12.30pm The Australian innings flattered to deceive, falling away dramatically towards the end. D'Arcy Short and Alex Carey struck impressive and contrasting fifties - in style - with Short keen to use his feet against the spinners, while Carey used the sweep to equal effect. Ironically, it was the sweep that led to Carey's downfall and his wicket set a collapse in motion. There was little resistance offered by the lower order as two India A bowlers - Shreyas Gopal and Siddarth Kaul - struck twice in two balls each, and those quick wickets snuffed the fight out of Australia A, who folded up without playing their full 50 overs for a sub-par 225.
Shreyas Gopal: I've been working hard and it's paid off in the form of wickets. We just need to bat for the 50 overs and I think that will do the job. Honestly, when I bowl I think like a bowling allrounder and when I bat, I think like a batting allrounder. I'd love to be a proper allrounder and I want to do both equally well. You have to put in effort as a youngster and sometime it doesn't work out so you just go and tell the coach. A lot of coaches have told me very similar things, there's a pattern in what they talk about.
