A pretty flaccid effort all round from Pakistan, despite Sarfraz Ahmed's fighting fifty down the order - though it could conceivably have been worse, at 54 for 5. The batsmen had been called upon to show some New Year resolve, but you can't fashion a six-pack overnight, as South Africa's bowlers proved by slicing through the flab once again. They'll be hoping to only bat once from here, though Pakistan have a handy attack themselves and will aim to test the home side's pressure points during a 38-over evening session.
