India will have to negotiate eight overs before stumps.

3.50pm Terrific bowling performance from India's spinners. Ashwin and Jadeja have returned in style to pick up seven wickets between them on a surface where there's considerable grass. Ashwin was superb variations in length and got the ball to dip, Jadeja did what he does - get the ball pitching in the same areas over and over again, almost like a robot, to keep causing doubts. While some spun, others like the ones that got Mathews, straightened. As for Ishant, he couldn't have asked for a better comeback. Replacing Shami, he bowled like a man who has been around for more than a decade in international cricket, showing the experience of a man who has played 78 Tests. The only semblance of resistance from Sri Lanka came in the form of Karunaratne, who conjured a fighting half-century. Little od note otherwise.

Ashwin to Herath, OUT, edged and taken at first slip. Lovely flight from Ashwin, drew Herath forward as a tentative poke flies low to Rahane, who anticipates the stroke and moves low to his right to complete the catch. That's wicket number 296 for Ashwin, his fourth of the innings. Sri Lanka bowled out for 205.
