10.1 and he strikes the front pad right away! Did it straighten enough? Umpire Tucker doesn't think so. Dilruwan and Chandimal go for a review. Pushed through on middle from around the wicket, Dhawan dares to sweep from the stumps. He deploys a big stride but does not make contact. He is pinned on the pad in front of middle and leg. The tracker shows it would have carried onto hit leg. All three reds, and Dhawan is gone 56/1
30.4 he's gone! A terrible mix-up. "My call," says an annoyed Rahul as he walks away. And it was his call indeed. A full ball at off stump, pushed to extra cover's left and Rahul takes off after calling. Pujara responds too, but changes his mind. By this time, Rahul is halfway down the pitch and there's no way he's making it. The throw is floated in and slightly wide, but Dickwella has enough time 109/2
91.6 Karunaratne hits the back thigh of Pujara. He won a similar appeal from Oxenford yesterday but it was overturned. Rahul it was. Oxenford does not budge this time. Height seems to be an issue. Sri Lanka ask for a review. Back of a length, seams in, from outside off at 111.4ks, to beat the inside edge of a largely crease-bound Pujara and brush the back thigh. Is it bouncing over? The tracker suggests it would go onto hit the top of leg stump. Karunaratne has his maiden Test wicket 350/4
38.5 Herath you beauty! Tossed it up for ages and now he pushes one through, back of a length outside off stump. Kohli, high on confidence till now, goes after it with a cut. Gets an edge that absolutely flies to first slip who gets anxious hands up quickly to his right and holds on as it bobbles. Mathews that is. Sighs and gratefully tumbles to his right as he finishes the job 133/3
110.5 Maiden Test wicket for Pushpakumara! He lets out an animated roar and celebrates. He has waited for this moment for a long time. This was tossed up liberally just outside off again, dips, and beats an advancing Rahane. He was eyeing up the leg side, shaping to hit against the break. Pushpakumara shoots past the outside edge and Dickwella does the rest 413/5

121.5 six and out! T20 style. Ashwin tries to cut a ball that is far too close to him. It's short, he reads that correctly, but it's also quick and flat, which means the ball keeps drifting in. If he misses his attempted late cut, he's in big trouble. He misses. The off stump is hit. Read the 1-2 trick well did Ashwin, but Herath is a wily bowler. 451/6
152.1 beauty. That's not a good sign for Sri Lanka at all. Herath has a look at the surface, a worried look. Flat outside off, draws Saha forward, the ball turns, rips and bounces past the edge of Saha. Comprehensively beaten, his balance way off. Dickwella takes the ball cleanly, and takes off the bails. Terrific innings from Saha. Massive explosion of dust. 568/8
132.4 4, 4 and out. Lovely flight outside off, Pandya comes down, looking for the big hit through long-off, but he doesn't quite get to the pitch. The ball skews instead off the outer half of the bat, lobs up and settles in Mathews' hands at long-off. A nice cameo. 496/7

154.5 and gone. Flat down leg, Shami goes back and looks to smash that over midwicket, but gets a thick top edge which lands in deep midwicket's hands. Nice cameo, but how clever was that if India are looking for that 600-mark? 598/9

13.4 Ashwin finds the outside edge again, Rahane at first slip bends low and snaffles this chance. Full, drifts in from around the wicket, and turns away just enough to graze the edge. Karunaratne did not help himself by prodding with an angled bat with a very short stride 33/2
1.6 how has he taken that? Rahul at short leg. The dab comes out. Quick on the pads, Ashwin's worst ball. Whipped straight into Rahul's midriff at short leg. Once it's there, Rahul knows he has to hang on to it, so he gets his hands up and clings on. Unlucky, but don't hit it uppishly to a fielder 0/1
25.4 taken at mid-on! India have another and poor Mendis has to walk back. He wants to lift the ball - good length on leg stump - over the infield. An effort to try and break India's stranglehold, but he doesn't quite get enough on it. And Kohli, running back, quickly enough, makes a slightly difficult catch look ridiculously commonplace 64/4
24.1 straight to square leg! There's enough happening off this pitch without mistakes like these. But perhaps on second thought, that is an attacking fielder, especially to Chandimal, who is an avid sweeper of the ball. He got his first boundary that way, and struck that in the air too. This time India keep a square leg in, behind square, and Chandimal falls into the trap perfectly 60/3
33.6 that is simply not possible and yet Pujara comes up with the ball in his hand! What a catch at leg gully, off a full blooded flick behind square leg! We can savour the moment as the umpires check on the legality of the catch. Ashwin gets a little bounce on the offbreak, and Mathews tries to ride it, and he might well have because the ball is going down to Pujara's left. But he moves smartly, gets his hand under the ball and takes it superbly 117/5
41.1 Dickwella's high-risk cricket fetched him a 44-ball fifty. His high-risk cricket now sees him scoop the ball right back onto the stumps. He pre-meditates by venturing a long way across the off stump. Shami keeps his head. Good length and angled in on off, Dickwella attempts to ramp it over the keeper's head, T20 style. Just deflects it back onto middle and off stumps, about half an hour before lunch 150/7
34.5 bye, bye Dhananjaya. What a ball from Jadeja! What a way to bring up 150 wickets in Test cricket. Quick fizzer, nearly 95ks, too fast for Dhananjaya to press forward. Slides in from around the wicket and turns away slightly with extra bounce to open him up, beat the outside edge and kiss the off bail. The turn wasn't sharp but the bounce was. More clouds of dust from the surface 122/6
47.2 bowled'em. India wrap up Sri Lanka for 171. Oh wait, India are hanging around to see if Pradeep will bat. And he walks in with an injured hamstring. Poor fella. Out goes Perera. This was tossed up delightfully outside off, spins in, floats through the gate to hit the stumps. Perera was drawn forward to drive against the break 171/9
41.6 Shami cleans up Herath! It's all going pear-shaped for Sri Lanka. The bowler goes wide of the crease and slants it in, Herath looks for a big whip across the line. Shami hurls it at nearly 140ks and shoots through Herath as the ball thuds into middle stump 152/8

49.4 Poor Pradeep. He walks in with an injured hamstring and gets bowled for a duck. Ashwin caps the innings with another five-wicket haul. He hung this offbreak up outside off, turns in, Pradeep was attempting to let it go. The ball grazes the inside edge and rolls back onto the stumps 183/10

95.4 takes off like a rocket and even Karunaratne is unable to best it. A perfectly good length ball on middle suddenly becomes the stuff of NASA's dreams as it soars up, takes the batsman's gloves and settles safely in the hands of Rahane, having run a little way behind the wicketkeeper. Cruel end to an innings of great quality, and that qualifty is reinforced by the fact most of India's close-in fielders run over to Karunaratne to shake his hand and his team-mate Mathews runs up to shake his hand before he leaves 310/5
2.6 beautiful bowling! It's a nip-backer and it's a right good 'un. Really, it's a bit like the perfect con artist, waiting until its mark is in the worst possible position - Tharanga with his front leg not really moving, his head falling over, a gap between bat and pad and the stumps perfectly left open for the full-length ball, pitching on off and darting in off the pitch to slam into it. 7/1
54.5 Has Hardik produced a wicket outta nowhere? Appeal for caught behind, minutes before stumps. Did it carry to the keeper? The soft signal is out. Saha dives forward to snag a clean catch. Gets his gloves underneath the ball and ends Mendis' incredible innings. India have been forced to dig deep into their reserves for this wicket. Hardik sends down an offcutter. It's a proper offbreak, in fact, 123.7ks, swerves in, Mendis does not read the variation. He pushes out and only manages an inside edge onto the pad. The ball balloons behind to a sprawling Saha. Great catch to end a great innings! 198/2
72.2 Oh Malinda, what was that? A coach will rip his hair out looking at this. He pre-meditates a reverse swat or rather a reverse slog. Malinda shapes for the fatal hit and shows his ace early, way before Ashwin delivered the ball. The bowler spotted it, fired it flatter and quicker and hit the leg stump. Why abandon the defence when it's your strength? Only Malinda knows why he did that. It looked very, very ugly, that reverse - one of the genuine contenders for the worst shot ever 238/3
73.5 edged again and this carries to Rahane at first slip! Jadeja is more relieved than pumped. It's Kohli who's pumped. On a good length, this slides in from around the wicket and turns away outside off. Chandimal presses forward and unwisely jabs at the ball with hard hands. Rahane dives to his right to snaffle this low catch. Excellent grab 241/4
97.3 caught behind! Saha has been legendary behind the stumps, and he establishes that fact with this catch. Mathews is playing a cut. A full-blooded cut. And he gets a top-edge. A sizeable top edge. But Saha is right there, climbing with the ball, eyes on it. His hands move up high over his shoulder and the ball sticks in the edge of his gloves. Superb work. 315/6
115.1 Dickwella has jabbed this wide yorker straight into the lap of gully! Pandya ventures wide of the crease and sends it wide outside off. Dickwella angles his bat and hits it straight to Rahane. Dolly catch. He did not even have to budge this time 384/9
99.3 that's not on! If you have to step down the track to Jadeja, you don't do it early. Perera learns the lesson in the hardest way possible as he leaves the crease, gets a quick, ripping delivery that beats his outside edge by a mile and goes to the waiting Saha who is perfectly brilliant 321/7
105.4 Has Rahane pocketed another low catch? The TV umpire has been called in. The soft signal from on-field umpire Oxenford is out. Brushes the glove and dies on Rahane. He bends low with it at slip. Umpire Illingworth says "seems like he has his hands underneath the ball". Yes, Rahane has his hands nice and low, and that's where the ball landed. Flat dart from Jadeja, slides in outside off, turns slightly and bounces sharply. Great grab from Rahane, and another five-wicket haul for Jadeja 343/8

116.5 It's all over at the SSC. Tossed up slower and higher outside off. Pradeep - busted hamstring and all - aims a biiiig slog-sweep. He only shoots up a top-edge in the air. Dhawan, who set up the series for India with a breakneck 190, fittingly sews up the series. He settles under this skier at mid-on and slaps the thigh 386/10
