8:44pm A wonderful final over by Siddique, but the damage, from a UAE perspective, was done much earlier. The hosts did begin nicely, though, keeping the Afghanistan batters tied down during the first five overs. The last over of the powerplay, though, released pressure and that allowed Afghanistan to grow into the innings. Atal and Zadran, who interchanged positions, excelled, with each bagging a fifty. Janat and Omarzai then dealt in boundaries towards the end, ensuring that Afghanistan have a healthy total on the board.
UAE will feel they gave away a few too many runs, especially through the middle and at the death. Rohid was impressive with the new ball, as was Siddique, although the former lost the plot in the penultimate over. Haider was not shabby either, but the fact remains that UAE, on what has looked like a tricky track, will have to pull out all the stops to hunt this score down. Join us in a bit for the chase!
Raj: "Top class last over bowling by Siddique."
Sediqullah Atal: I made my first T20I fifty, so quite happy. Hopefully this will make my team the winning side. The wicket was not much easy in the beginning. There was spongy bounce for the seamers. I tried to spend more time (at the wicket) and wait for my favourite balls. After that (the fifth over), we started counter-attack and got some success in that. (Partnership with Zadran) Just to look for the loose balls, play normal cricketing shots, and lots of doubles because the fielders were on the ropes. We wanted to put pressure on them. (On the score) I think it is enough. Because our target was to get to 160-165. We got more runs on the board, and it could be difficult for them.
Last ball coming up. This has been a magnificent over so far
