Presentation:

AB de Villiers: "Thought we started really slowly with the ball. Still in with a chance. We pulled it back to 260 from 300 and above. Hash played an amazing innings and not enough partnerships around him. I got out to a soft dismissal. Dale showed that if you spent enough time you could do. I got out but there are other batsmen too."

Dilshan is the Man of the Match: "I'm really enjoying playing here in Pallekele. I got the message that 260-270 was a good total. It turned later in the evening. Not easy to bowl with the new rules. But I'm enjoying it. I have returned from Tests and I am focusing on the next World Cup now."

Mathews: "I was a bit concerned after we collapsed, thought 30-40 runs short. Dilshan played a great knock. All spinners contributed. We knew the South Africans were coming hard at us. Looking forward to the third game."

That's it from us here. Thanks for your company. Argentina v Netherlands coming up. And after that, on Saturday, is the decider at Hambantota. It's a day game. We will see you then. Goodbye!

End of match: Sri Lanka keep the series alive going into the third game. The game was slipping away until AB de Villiers played that shot. He ducked his head as soon as the ball dipped towards the long-on fielder. Nobody knew it at that point but Sri Lanka were given an escape route and only Amla stood in their way. Their spinners brought them back but Amla's dismissal all but confirmed the win.

Some records still stand - SA are yet to beat SL in two consecutive matches in their backyard and they are yet to beat them in an ODI when set 250 or above. On the 13 occasions before this one when Amla has scored an ODI century, South Africa have emerged victorious. Until tonight.

The choice for the Man of the Match should be unanimous. Dilshan stood out with bat and ball yet again. Presentation coming up.

Mazher Arshad: "Tillakaratne Dilshan in 11 ODIs at Pallekele has 768 runs at an average of 96.00 and 9 wickets at average 16.66."

Mendis to Steyn, OUT, Steyn's been given out lbw and Steyn is reviewing it, it was the googly, Steyn was trapped on the back foot, the ball hits the top flap of the pad first and then the bat, height was the doubt and Hawkeye shows the ball hitting the top of the off stump, umpire's call stands, Steyn's gone and that's the match

DW Steyn lbw b Mendis 23 (53m 35b 4x4 0x6) SR: 65.71

Malinga to Imran Tahir, no run, another yorker and there's a big shout for the lbw and he was not given, they review it, bizarrely the ball went under the bat, spun back in and hit the pads, not in front of the stumps though so he is safe

Rohit Yadav: "Amla's weakness sorted out, It's 'full-toss'.. :)"

W
Malinga to Morkel, OUT, another yorker but this time Morkel couldn't keep it out, it was in fact the slower ball, Morkel played all around it and the ball struck the off stump

Malinga to Amla, OUT, it's a full toss and Amla has holed out! On the body and he looks to swing it over the infield but a very easy catch for Senanayake at midwicket, they check if the ball was above waist height but it was within the limit
