2.50pm New Zealand have put up another big total as they get past 300 to finish on 315 for 8. Sri Lanka's bowlers, who started off the innings beautifully with disciplined lines and lengths, ended up very similar to the end of their last bowling effort, as they gave away runs with some rather wayward bowling. Sri Lanka will hope their batsmen can fare better as they face down another big chase in Dunedin. Shame for both Taylor and Williamson though, who were both out at 96 and 97 respectively. We will see you soon for the second innings!

Prasad to Elliott, 1 run, OUT, 142 kph, in the zone for the drive which Elliott does, as this one races away through extra-cover. Mills to get back for the second before the throw but is picked off with his bat on the line. Mills has to go as he was at the danger end

KD Mills run out 0 (3m 0b 0x4 0x6) SR: -

Prasad to Elliott, 2 runs, 140 kph, cuts this short and wide delivery hard through the covers, but the ball is tracked back before the rope

With that dismissal, Kyle Mills features out in the middle. Good to see him in a Blackcaps uniform!

Prasad to Vettori, OUT, 117 kph, excellent slow bouncer from Prasad which Vettori was looking to hook but is late on. Elliott guns for his end so Vettori takes the cue, but is short of his ground as Sangakkara scrambles a throw to Prasad, who is able to reach out to knock over the stumps with Vettori short of his ground at the non-striker's

DL Vettori run out 3 (9m 3b 0x4 0x6) SR: 100

Dave: "Based on a few comments I've seen on cricinfo, and me included, quite a few people owe grant Elliot an apology or two. He's played superbly since the first game failure... Long may it continue!"

Prasad to Vettori, 2 runs, 139 kph, backs away before squirting this fuller one through cover, with the fielder taking off most of the pace as the ball slows up in the deep

Prasad to Elliott, no run, 140 kph, Elliott gets down on one knee to this half-volley outside off, but fails to get it away as he inside-edges onto the pad

Prasad to bowl the final over..

Surath: "This is why I say Prasad is a useless bowler. He is only good with the new ball. He cant even get his line right with the old ball. Problem with him and Thisara is that they try to hit that 140+ mark but doesnt seem to understand that its not the speed, but the line and length which will save you in the death overs.. Why can't these guys bowl yorkers is beyond me!"

Perera to Elliott, 1 run, 129 kph, another yorker converging on middle as Elliott just about manages to get it away on the leg side

Perera to Elliott, FOUR, 129 kph, advances down the track before reaching out to slice this full delivery going across him through backward point

Perera to Vettori, 1 run, 131 kph, gets his bat out to dead-bat this fuller delivery just outside off as they scamper the run
