END OF OVER:
50 | 11 Runs | NZ: 360/5 | RR: 7.20

  • Luke Ronchi170 (99b)
  • Grant Elliott104 (96b)
  • Suranga Lakmal10-0-93-0
  • Nuwan Kulasekara10-0-71-2

2.45pm If I had told you that NZ were once 93 for 5, would you have believed me after seeing the final total? Neither would I, but that is exactly what has transpired here at Dunedin. Ronchi's 170* and Elliott's 104* have come at a glorious time for the hosts with the World Cup getting ever closer on the horizon. Sri Lanka have a huge chase to contend with once we return from the interval. We will be back for more action from Dunedin, so don't go anywhere!

Elliott says he feels really good. Says Luke was striking it really well. Was offering up a spectacle to everyone at the ground. In the World Cup he feels they will be presented with a variety of scenarios, and he is pleased they have been able to get through them so far, so that has been satisfying for them.

2.43pm The Sri Lankan players all take turns in offering their congratulations as Elliott and Ronchi march off the field to generous applause as we recover from what has been unbelievable batting under pressure from these two. Highest recorded stand for the sixth wicket across all ODIs, terrific stuff.

Lakmal to Ronchi, 2 runs, 139 kph, back of a length which Ronchi just about gets away with a slap through long on as the pair run the first hard to comeback for the second and end what has been an unbelievable partnership by these two

Ronchi on strike for the final ball

Lakmal to Elliott, 1 run, 130 kph, drills this one straight past the bowler to the long on fielder
49.4
2
Lakmal to Elliott, 2 runs, 131 kph, this time steered away through backward point as some quick running turns it into two
49.3
1
Lakmal to Ronchi, 1 run, 138 kph, dropped short one which follows the batsman as Ronchi goes after it, which he has to at this stage of the innings. Ends up offering a high chance to the cover fielder who has to run behind and try to take it, with the ball ending up being bobbled in the deep as he went down

MattH: "Can Lakmal get his hundred?!"

49.2
4
Lakmal to Ronchi, FOUR, 137 kph, straight from the bowler but Ronchi in this kind of form is just too good as he blitzes this one back past the bowler to find the long off boundary in a hurry
49.1
1
Lakmal to Elliott, 1 run, 138 kph, they pinch a run through the off side with a drop single executed by Elliott

Not sure if Elliott wants his original bat framed as he looks for a change in bats. Lakmal to bowl the final over
