The Lightning get their season going in impressive fashion. A couple of early wickets brought the two Tector brothers together and they never really looked back. An 88 run partnership in only 9 overs settled any nerves around the ground, and with the ball flying to all parts of the ground, it never gave the Reds a chance to put any pressure on the home team. Tim Tector was the top scorer with an excellent 54 off only 41 balls, although he has been pipped to the player of the match award which goes to Barry McCarthy for his 5 wickets in the earlier Innings. The Lightning chasing down the target so quickly means that they pick up an extra bonus point and sit proudly on top of the table. A great way for them to start the season.
Thanks for following along today. The second game of our double header starts at 3.30pm. Hopefully you can join me then. This is Justin Smyth saying goodbye for now.
