5.05 pm New Zealand were 153 for 2. Then they were 199 for 8 and finally they've got 285 on the board. The loss of yet another toss, and the possibility of dew in the evening would have weighed heavily on their minds when they lost four wickets in four overs through the middle of the innings. But James Neesham's maiden ODI fifty changed the game. He put on 84 runs in 67 balls with Matt Henry - the record for New Zealand's ninth wicket. The total doesn't seem to be beyond India's reach, but it certainly won't be easy. Join us at 5.45 pm for the chase.

India would have been miffed at letting a game they had well in control slip away like that. Their spinners were outstanding, led by Amit Mishra's delicious leggies and the menace of part-time offspinner Kedar Jadhav, who finished with 3 for 29, and one of those wickets was Kane Williamson's, completely deceived the New Zealand captain with lack of turn. The fast bowlers, however, weren't entirely on point on a pitch with true pace and bounce.

"It's a good wicket to bat on and its a good total, but our line-up should chase it down," says Kedar Jadhav, "We have good quality spinners in the middle, you need to be good against spin, and our spin bowling has been very well. [Why he's been getting wickets] I guess its my action and the height at which I bowl makes it difficult for the batsman. So too my change of pace. Mostly whenever there are left-handers batting, we don't have offspinners in the side, so I am the one who takes the responsibility"

Elsewhere in the world of sports, India won the Kabaddi World Cup last night and our friends at ESPN.in have charted the team's comeback in the second half, and how the game has bound young and old tightly together. And for football fans, here is the preview of tonight's game between Pune and Chennai:

Bumrah to Boult, OUT, backs away to flay the ball through cover, and he would have had it not been for Bumrah trumping him with some very clever change of pace. Flashes a big smile after felling the off stump

Yadav to Neesham, OUT, that is not at all timed. It's a full toss, but Neesham seems to have got under it too much while trying to smash it down the ground. Skews away to cover, where Jadhav takes a fine catch under pressure. Thats the end of a record partnership for New Zealand for the 9th wicket - 84 in 67 balls
