3.1 yet another Test batsman shoulders arms to a straight one. The around the wicket angle has worked against Elgar once more. Back of a length, starts outside off, angles in at off stump. This is a pitch where you can trust the bounce, but he's misjudged the length there and this one clips the top of off stump. He failed to cover the line. 5/2
2.2 a duck on debut for De Bruyn. Back of a length delivery outside off, once more he's feeling for it. This time it has straightened. He follows with his hands, away from his body, thick edge at a nice height to Latham at second slip 5/1
33.5 gone! Out, in, in, out and in again to get him out. Full at middle stump, goes across the line to whip this through midwicket, it slides through from under his bat and thuds into the stumps 97/4
23.4 got him! He's kept going after the short one, and this time he's cramped around his chest. It wasn't particularly fast, but he wasn't in a great position. Still swiveling as he played that short ball from middle stump, and he's taking his eyes off as he plays the shot. Top edge, straight to Patel at fine leg. It was a difficult stay for Duminy, but it's not the bowling that got him out there. 64/3
61.3 oh what a catch! Tom Latham plucks Faf's paddle sweep at short leg. Faf has seen the drift inwards and has premeditated a paddle sweep. But this one is back of a length outside off. He isn't to the pitch and is playing against the turn. Hence, can't get it fine. Instead it is nudged in the air, high and wide to Latham's right. He sticks one arm out and pouches it. Brilliant. He saw Faf going down for the shot and was running in the direction of fine leg before he had even hit the ball. 190/6
48.4 and a freak dismissal against the run of play. This is 137 kph, back of a length outside off and slightly deviating away as Bavuma stands tall to play the pull shot. It was short enough for the shot, but the slowness of the pitch has done him. He's through the pull early and it catches the closed face of the toe of the bat and flies through to first slip, where Raval takes it comfortably in front of his chest 148/5
87.3 full and angling into the leg stump, De Kock has slogged across the line and missed this one. It struck him in line, but would it have gone down? Rod Tucker doesn't think so. He's given him. It's been reviewed. And ball tracking shows it has straightened enough to hit leg stump. Replays showed there was some late swing that made him miss the shot. 295/9
68.5 got him. He had him poking outside off most of last over. Dangles another one in that channel, very slight movement across. More than Philander's feet, in any case. His bottom hand comes off as he reaches out and the edge is low to Latham's right this time. At second slip, he plucks this one too, inches off the ground, with two hands 219/7
78.3 oh good bowling. This is a bouncer in the corridor, Maharaj has to fend at it. It's quick and climbing at him. He jumps to try and negotiate it but that's too good for him and he gets a glove through to Watling 249/8
89.2 it is the bouncer that gets him anyway. This one is close to his throat and still climbing as he swings at it. He closes his eyes and goes through with the shot. The top edge floats high behind first slip and Watling trots backwards to catch that 314/10

31.5 great bowling and great catch! After making him play a couple of deliveries, he goes wide of the crease and angles this in at off stump. Latham is forced to push at it because of the angle. But it tails away slightly, straightens and kisses the outside edge. It flies low to De Kock's left and he stretches out with his left hand and snaps it up inches off the ground. That is Morkel's 250th Test wicket 83/1
89.5 and he'll have to tell him the same in the dressing room, because De Kock has pulled off a blinder. This is angled in at off middle stump, nips back sharply and cramps him. He puts down an angled bat at it to defend. Gets a thick inside edge that is travelling and dipping quickly, but De Kock takes a shuffle to his right before diving low and plucking it inches off the ground. A long, gutsy vigil from Raval has come to and end, 12 short of his hundred. Morkel uncharacteristically screaming a send-off 273/2
130.3 short ball from Morkel does the trick. He has really bowled his heart out here and deserves this wicket. The short ball is always his strength with his height and he uses that to good effect on this occasion. Angles it in to strangle him for room. Williamson swivels around and pulls, gets a top edge and Philander takes a good low catch at deep fine leg 381/5

92.6 and there's the token trademark wicket of the season, shouldering arms. Good length, angling in at off stump. This ball is a tad fuller than the one he left on length in the previous over. It thuds him on the back leg, right in front of the stumps. A sheepish consultation with Williamson about a review, but they both know there's no chance 293/3
94.1 tickles it down to De Kock off his glove. Nicholls gets a bouncer at his ribs first ball, he climbs and tries to tuck this fine, but that's off his glove, through to De Kock, and he's walking 293/4
138.2 short of good length, angling away, Santner does not move towards the line of the ball. Rather, he sticks his bat out without feet and pushes at it. Finds an edge to JP Duminy who takes a smart catch at gully 397/6
151.4 advances down the track and ends up yorking himself. Fullish, sliding in and dipping on Watling. The ball sneaks through from underneath the bat before crashing into the stumps 443/7
162.1 that's a tame dismissal to end the innings. Short ball, angling in and de Grandhomme tries to pull. Gets a glove to the wicketkeeper who takes a good low catch to his left. Strangled down the leg side there. 489/10
157.3 Maharaj unafraid to flight the ball and pitch it up. Invites the batsman to go for the drive and Henry comes forward. He fails to keep it down and spoons it to mid-off. Does not time it too well. He perhaps got too close to it because of which he got it off the bottom of the bat 477/8
161.3 sticks his bat out without moving his feet. Short ball, hangs back in the crease and gets nowhere close to it. Gets a feather to De Kock behind the stumps 489/9

5.6 beautifully done. They have relentlessly bowled it in the corridor and South Africa's batsmen have repeatedly poked at it away from the body. a couple of edges flew away for fours but this time no such luck. just back of a length and angled in from wide of the crease. Elgar sticks his bat out without covering the line and the ball straightens late outside off to find the outside edge 13/1
11.5 oh, what a disaster! That was really the worst way of getting out. Amla taps this fuller ball just to the right of mid-off. The fielder has to move to his right and run in and they sense a single. Amla calls for it and de Bruyn is initially reluctant. De Bruyn had turned around and wasn't aware that Amla wanted the run. Turns back and sees the call and responds to it. And they collide straight into each other. Amla fall, too, but he is more or less there and is able to recover and make his ground. But de Bruyn had barely covered one-fourth of the distance. No way he was going to be able to make it to the keeper's end 25/2
20.3 Amla has been chasing these wide ones for some time now. Mostly played them fine but this time he goes hard on the cut and gets a thick outside edge to first slip. Jeetan gets one to drift the other way and Amla sensing the width opens up. But the ball comes on straight with the arm and does not spin into him as expected which means he has reached out a long way for it and cannot find the middle of the bat. Goes off the keeper's glove to de Grandhomme 49/3

24.2 error in judgement from Duminy. Expects the ball to do a whole lot and it does nothing. Loopy, tossed up and gets it to drift in to Duminy who offers no stroke. He was probably expecting it to spin from the rough outside off. Instead it merely comes on with the arm and flattens off-stump. South Africa in all sorts of trouble now 50/4

27.2 beauty! Another batsman chases a wide one and perishes. Goes for an extravagant drive and gets an edge to the wicketkeeper. Full marks to Henry for bowling it wide and asking the batsman to reach out 59/5
