8.30pm New Zealand will probably he the happier side at the innings break, having restricted Bangladesh to 141 for 8, despite Mahmudullah's spunky fifty. The hosts could have restricted Bangladesh further had they not conceded 18 runs via wides. The debutants - Lockie Ferguson and Ben Wheeler - had a good day out, collecting five wickets between them. Be back in a bit for New Zealand's reply. Will the other debutant - Tom Bruce - have a good day too?

Mahmudullah: I enjoyed the innings. In the ODIs I did not have the rhythm. I like the short boundaries, but the hat-trick ball was a tough one - a yorker. They [NZ] executed their plans well. If we take wickets with the new ball, we can keep them under pressure.
