1.36pm A fine hundred from Kusal Mendis and some good hustle from Charith Asalanka have put Sri Lanka in the driver's seat on a pitch that is offering enough to anyone who takes pace off. Ironically it was Australia's fast bowlers who did most of the damage, their ability to hold a tight line on off stump, denying scoring options. Twenty three overs of spin fetched only one wicket. Mendis deserves a lot of credit for that, his sweep shots and a willingness to step down the pitch enabling him to overcome the threat of the turning ball.

Asalanka's left-handedness worked in SL's favour as well, helping him get some boundaries away to let his partner play at his pace. Then 97 runs in the last 10 overs, with Australia's fielding going a bit ragged, their bowlers not exactly bowling to their field, might play a part in the final result too

Samiddhi: "The Man of the Series award is confirmed : Charith Asalanka!!!"

adithya: "Beauty of an ODI is you get to see the patience of a test and the adrenaline of a T20 in a single day"

Alex: "281/4 is a very odd score these days after 50 overs. Either teams are scoring 300+ or they lose so many wickets. "

Hardie to Liyanage, 1 run, slower short ball, Liyanage swings to deep midwicket

Qasim: "Head's innings will be crucial, if he can start strong, Australia will chase this down"

Hardie to Asalanka, 1 leg bye, walks at the bowler who goes slower yorker. Asalanka doesn't get bat to it, the offcutter dipping a bit, but he does get a leg bye through to deep square leg. Australia have reviewed that for lbw. Impact probably outside leg. Yep.

Hardie to Asalanka, no run, slower ball outside off, after shifting the angle to over the wicket. Asalanka attempts the slice square of the wicket on the off side. Can't connect

Alfie: "Bravo Darcy, bravo to all involved, simply magnificent commentary. Could we upgrade the next heave ho to a great stonking hit?"

Hardie to Asalanka, SIX, hoooonked down the ground. The extra ooos are for the sweet connection that he made with this half-volley on off stump. The yorker doesn't quite go right for Hardie.

Darcy: "A humble request to use the verb "honked" next time someone slams a six...I picked this up reading Cricinfo a while ago and I chuckle every time I see it, trying to imagine what the batter's done to warrant the term"

Hardie to Asalanka, SIX, dropped by Short running to his left from long-on and it goes for six. Cross-seam length ball outside off and Asalanka smashes it over the leg side. Smith is again peeved by his team's fielding efforts
