Did you see who won ESPNcricinfo's Annual Awards for the best performances of 2024?
1.15pm After Ireland inserted Zimbabwe with some weather being forecast, the hosts made sure to stand up to the challenge of being inserted and finish with 299/5. Brian Bennett, opening for the first time in ODIs, made it a morning to remember by hitting 169 from 163. He was ably supported by Curran in a 95-run opening stand and after that Bennett dominated proceedings with Ervine, who made 69. Unfortunately for Zimbabwe, they didn't quite get the fireworks from one end once Ervine fell, and this target is definitely very much chaseable for Ireland.
The Irish fielders walk back together with some high-fives, probably based on how they finished their bowling innings. Not many double-digit overs in the last five. Josh Little, though, had a very off day, conceding 1-75 in nine overs. See you on the other side with the chase.
Charles J: "Brian is one of the fan of Brian Charles Lara who's highest score is 169 in ODI"
Bennett: In white-ball cricket, I do enjoy the new ball. There's been a bit of talk about me opening recently. Lucky to get the chance and lucky it came off. Here, at 9.30am start, we know it's a tricky start but the pitch was good. Not much swing. Not much in the deck. Took it from there. (Enough runs?) Target of 300 nowadays.... Ireland have good batters as well, we'll have to back our bowlers."

Final over left. I wonder if Zimbabwe will feel they failed to maximise
