After successfully bringing the innings to a halt in the middle overs, Pakistan dropped their guard, were shoddy at the death, and New Zealand ended the innings the way they started. Abbas and Bracewell soaked up the pressure and then Hay took over and played a blinder, ending up with his highest score in international cricket and accelerating tremendously towards the end. The bowlers have plenty to defend and it's not an easy wicket to bat on if the quicks target the right areas and there's some assistance for the spinners as well. There aren't many bashers in Pakistan's line-up so this could be a stiff task. Momentum is with New Zealand as they came out of the rut, recovered well and dominated towards the end, posting a competitive total. Sufiyan Muqeem was impressive and grabbed his opportunity with both hands but the pacers, Haris Rauf in particular, lost the plot at a crucial juncture of the innings. Rashad will be back for the chase in about 30 minutes
