6.25pm Pathum Nissanka became just the tenth man to score an ODI double-century and the first from Sri Lanka as his magnificent innings guided Sri Lanka to 381. Nissanka batted through the innings, first putting on a 182-run stand with Avishka Fernando. Another 100-plus stand followed with Sadeera Samarawickrama, and then he really raced through the gears to get to the double-century. Nissanka walked off to handshakes from the Afghanistan players, including captain Hashmatullah Shahidi, who will be pondering his decision to bowl first. Fareed Ahmad, after an expensive start, picked two wickets and bowled well in the death, but Nissanka adjusted to the slower balls to put on a brilliant assault in the end. Nissanka showed a different level to his game today, making this knock even more special. Afghanistan now have a massive job on their hands.
