AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas running back D'Onta Foreman, the nation's leading rusher, surpassed 2,000 rushing yards Friday in a loss to TCU with another 100-yards-plus game.
Foreman joined Ricky Williams as the second 2,000-yard rusher in Longhorn history on 44-yard run in the third quarter. He finished with 165 yards on 31 carries in the 31-9 loss.
It was Foreman's school-record 13th straight game with 100 or more rushing yards, and he eclipsed 2,000 yards playing only 11 games this season. He sat out the Week 2 game against UTEP due to injury.
"It meant a lot. To be the second person to do it in UT history is a great accomplishment," he said. "I'm very proud of myself, very proud of my O-line. They helped me. To do it when I sat out a game is crazy. I thank those guys. They've been really great to me."
Foreman said after the loss he and his family hope to make a decision about whether he'll enter the NFL draft "as soon as possible."
"The pros [to returning] would be me loving those guys in the locker room, me wanting to be here next to those guys and wanting to get this thing moving in the right direction next season," Foreman said. "The cons would be coach Strong not being here, definitely."
Foreman said he'll consult with Williams while considering his decision. Williams went through similar circumstances after the 1997 season and elected to return for his senior season to play for new coach Mack Brown. Williams went on to win the Heisman Trophy in 1998.
Foreman is a finalist for the Doak Walker Award along with San Diego State's Donnel Pumphrey and Florida State's Dalvin Cook.
