Which ESPN 300 recruits could flip commitments before signing day?

Cameron Coleman

With only three weeks until the early signing period begins for Class of 2024 recruits (Dec. 20), it's coming down to decision time for top college football prospects. This is also the time on the recruiting calendar to expect more decommitments and flips.

As schools are looking to fill their final spots and hoping to change the minds of some of their top targets, here are 10 recruits who are being pursued hard by other schools, along with predictions on which ones could flip their commitments:

Cameron Coleman, wide receiver

ESPN 300 rank: 6
Committed to: Texas A&M Aggies

Recruiting intel: Coleman has been committed to the Aggies since June, but Jimbo Fisher was just fired and other teams have been trying to flip him for some time. He is a 6-foot-4, 185-pound prospect and the No. 1 receiver in the country, so he's going to have his pick of options. Coleman is from Alabama, and Auburn has been working to flip him. The Tigers got him on campus for a visit recently, but he has yet to decommit from Texas A&M. Florida State is another school in the mix, but it doesn't seem like he'll make a decision until he gets to know the new coaching staff with Mike Elko now taking over.

Will he flip? Yes. It might be too early for this prediction, because Elko could make an impact. But Auburn has been putting in a lot of work, and while there is still a chance he stays committed to the Aggies after he gets to know Elko, it seems like Coleman will land elsewhere.

Jeremiah Smith, wide receiver

ESPN 300 rank: 7
Committed to: Ohio State Buckeyes

Recruiting intel: Smith is a 6-foot-3, 200-pound prospect out of Hollywood, Florida, and is the No. 2 receiver in the class. He has been committed to Ohio State since June, but Florida State has been working to flip him. He has taken recent visits to Florida State and now Florida, as well. Ohio State has an outstanding track record with receivers and is able to show Smith film on Marvin Harrison Jr. and what he has been able to do in its offense. He even got a recent shout-out from LeBron James.

Will he flip? No. The Buckeyes are still hanging on to his recruitment, and while all of this could change in an instant as we move closer to the early signing period, it seems he will stick with the Buckeyes.

L.J. McCray, defensive line

ESPN 300 rank: 23
Committed to: Florida Gators

Recruiting intel: McCray is a 6-foot-7, 265-pound defensive lineman out of Daytona Beach, Florida, and has been committed to Florida since October. He has taken visits to Miami and Florida State but has also been back to Gainesville to see the Gators recently. Quite a few schools have tried to flip him, but he remains committed to the Gators.

Will he flip? No. This one could change, because things get hectic when we come down to the wire, but for now we'll say he sticks with the Gators.

Terry Bussey, athlete

ESPN 300 rank: 26
Committed to: Texas A&M Aggies

Recruiting intel: Bussey is a 5-foot-11, 185-pound athlete from Timpson, Texas, and has been committed to the Aggies since September. Before he made his commitment, Bussey had a final group of Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M. LSU has been in contact and working to get the versatile prospect in its class.

Will he flip? Yes. Again, this one will probably have to do with how comfortable he feels with Elko and his staff, so Bussey could end up sticking. For now, we'll lean toward him flipping to another team.

Kevin Riley, running back

ESPN 300 rank: 69
Committed to: Miami Hurricanes

Recruiting intel: Riley is a 5-foot-11, 200-pound back who has been committed to the Hurricanes since June. However, Alabama has been in contact and is trying to keep Riley, who is from Northport, Alabama, from going out of state. He has taken visits to both schools, and while this seems like a battle between the two, he might end up waiting to make a final decision beyond December.

Will he flip? No. If he waits until February to make a final decision, this could change because it's hard to count out Alabama. As it stands now, we'll say he sticks with Miami. Don't bet against Nick Saban when it's closing time, though.

Caleb Odom, tight end

ESPN 300 rank: 71
Committed to: Alabama Crimson Tide

Recruiting intel: Odom is a 6-foot-5, 215-pound prospect out of Georgia who has been committed to the Crimson Tide since July. Ole Miss has gotten him on campus since then and has been trying to flip him, but it seems he will stick with Alabama.

Will he flip? No. Odom hasn't decommitted yet after taking a visit, so it seems like it will be difficult to get him to make the switch.

Gatlin Bair, wide receiver

ESPN 300 rank: 76
Committed to: Boise State Broncos

Recruiting intel: Bair committed to Boise State in August, choosing the Broncos over Michigan, Oregon, TCU and a handful of others. Boise State has since fired coach Andy Avalos, leaving the door open for schools to get back in on Bair's recruitment. He visited Oregon and Michigan, and both schools seem to have a shot at flipping him.

Will he flip? Yes. Michigan was thought to be very much in the conversation when he first committed, and the Wolverines could be the beneficiaries the second time around. His visit to Michigan for the Ohio State game went well, and there seems to be some momentum building there.

Amaris Williams, defensive end

ESPN 300 rank: 100
Committed to: Florida Gators

Recruiting intel: Williams is a 6-foot-3, 255-pound recruit out of Clinton, North Carolina, who has been committed to Florida since June. The Gators have had four decommitments since September, and Williams could be next. He has visited Ohio State and it looks like the Buckeyes are pushing for him, as is Tennessee.

Will he flip? Yes. Williams and Ohio State are a good match. The Buckeyes, with another strong season and opportunity along the defensive line, could be his final destination.

Michael Smith, tight end

ESPN 300 rank: 173
Committed to: South Carolina Gamecocks

Recruiting intel: Smith has been committed to South Carolina since January, but a few schools continue to recruit him, including Tennessee and Auburn. Those efforts have been unsuccessful so far, and it looks like South Carolina has a good shot at keeping him.

Will he flip? No. Coach Shane Beamer and his staff have done a good job building relationships, and it seems Smith will stick.

Charleston Collins, defensive tackle

ESPN 300 rank: 231
Committed to: Arkansas Razorbacks

Recruiting intel: Collins has been committed to the Razorbacks since April, but Ole Miss has been mentioned in his recruitment lately. Collins recently tweeted that he is committed to Arkansas in an effort to put out any fires.

Will he flip? Yes. This one could end up being 50-50. His tweet provides some confidence that he might stay with Arkansas, but Ole Miss has some momentum.
