Best available players in the transfer portal

Petre Thomas-USA TODAY Sports

Coaching changes have fired up the transfer portal again after the winter transfer window closed and has brought some big names back on the market.

A new transfer window opens for 30 days when a head coach leaves the school, so Alabama, Washington and Arizona are among the teams seeing departures through the portal.

Most players have already committed to a new school, however there are still some highly sought after players who have yet to make a decision. Here are the top four available transfers still in the portal.

1. Jabbar Muhammad, CB

Transferring from: Washington

HT: 5-10 | WT: 183 | Class: Senior

Background: Muhammad transferred to Washington from Oklahoma State after the 2022 season. He started every game this season for the Huskies and was a second-team All-Pac-12 player at corner. He had 46 total tackles, five tackles for loss and three interceptions in 2023 and has one year of eligibility remaining.

2. Will Rogers, QB

Transferring from: Mississippi State/Washington

HT: 6-2 | WT: 215 | Class: Senior

Background: Rogers started six games in the 2020 season as a freshman and threw for 1,976 yards 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He started 13 games in each of the 2021 and 2022 seasons and had 36 and 35 touchdowns in those two years. Rogers dealt with an injury in 2023, but threw for 1,626 yards, 12 touchdowns and four interceptions in the eight games he played in. He originally transferred to Washington, but with coach Kalen DeBoer taking the Alabama job, Rogers once again entered the portal. Returning to Washington is still an option, but he could end up with his third team in two months if he goes elsewhere.

3. Landen Hatchett, OL

Transferring from: Washington

HT: 6-2 | WT: 310 | Class: Freshman

Background: Hatchett was an ESPN 300 recruit in the 2023 class, ranked No. 287 overall out of Ferndale, Washington. He was ranked as the No. 2 center in the country and signed with the Huskies over offers from Texas A&M, Oregon, Michigan, and plenty of other big-name schools. He played in nine games as a true freshman this season on an offensive line that won the Joe Moore Award for the best offensive line unit in 2023. He has three years of eligibility remaining and experience playing at the highest level.

4. Kevon Darton, DL

Transferring from: Syracuse

HT: 5-11 | WT: 271 | Class: Redshirt junior

Background: Darton started his career at Syracuse as a walk-on in 2019 and was put on scholarship in 2022. He appeared in all 13 games in 2022 with 11 starts and finished with 54 tackles and four tackles for loss as a defensive tackle. He played in all 13 games this season for the Orange and led the team in sacks with five from the nose tackle position. He had 42 total tackles, eight tackles for loss and three quarterback hurries. He isn't the biggest player on the field, but the production speaks for itself.
