Gervonta Davis will defend his WBA "regular" lightweight title against Rolando Romero on Saturday in the main event of a Premier Boxing Champions card at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York (Showtime PPV, 9 p.m. ET).
Davis (26-0, 24 KOs), 27, of Baltimore, is coming off a decision victory over tough contender Isaac Cruz in December. It was Davis' first victory by decision since 2015. Since that fight he had scored 16 KOs, eight of them inside Round 3, including wins over Mario Barrios, Leo Santa Cruz, Yuriorkis Gamboa and Jose Pedraza.
Romero (14-0, 12 KOs), 26, of Las Vegas, has eight KO victories in his last 10 fights. He's fought 12 rounds only once, a decision win over Jackson Marinez in 2020.
Will Davis' experience and exceptional technique be enough to overcome the unusual style and aggressiveness of Romero?
Two-division champion and current ESPN boxing analyst Timothy Bradley Jr. breaks down the lightweight matchup and picks the winner.
