It was a sure thing.

Twice.

And then it wasn't.

The Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals were forced to settle for a bizarre 6-6 tie Sunday night, with each team missing gimme field goals late in overtime.

First, the Cardinals had a certain victory set up as Chandler Catanzaro lined up for a 24-yard field goal in overtime. Entering the day, Catanzaro was 12-of-12 in his career on field goal tries of 24 yards or shorter. In fact, he was 32-of-32 on kicks as long as 32 yards (his shortest miss was from 33 yards).

He's now 32-of-33.

Catanzaro's miss set up things for the Seahawks, who drove downfield to give Stephen Hauschka a chance to win the game from 28 yards.

Hauschka was 48-of-51 on field goal tries of 29 yards or shorter prior to that kick. He's now 48-of-52 after his miss basically clinched the tie. He has missed as many kicks from inside 30 yards this season (2) as he missed in his career.

The last time there was an overtime in which there were multiple misses of field goal attempts 29 yards or shorter was on Dec. 24, 2005, between the Falcons and Buccaneers. Atlanta's Todd Peterson had a 28-yard attempt blocked. Then Tampa Bay's Matt Bryant missed a 27-yarder. After three punts, Bryant hit a 41-yard FG with 15 seconds left to win the game for the Buccaneers.
