ARLINGTON, Texas -- Curtis Granderson's right knee injury turned out to be minor.
Granderson is in the starting lineup for Friday's exhibition game against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Park, a day after being forced from a game in the third inning. Granderson said he still had mild swelling and bruising on the outside of the knee a day after being struck with a third-inning pitch by St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Lance Lynn in the teams' Grapefruit League finale.
"I think everything should be good," Granderson said pregame Friday. "We got some ice this afternoon. I just warmed up outside to make sure we were good to go. We'll hit now, which I don't think should be an issue, do normal team stretch. All signs point toward getting back in there today."
Granderson said the swelling is in a "unique spot -- a spot that's not restricting anything."
Granderson labeled the lack of severity a relief.
"It also helps that we're in another warm place today, to help loosen it up," he added.
