The New York Jets had no players selected to the Pro Bowl for the second consecutive year (Leonard Williams made it as an injury replacement last season). Here's a look at who wasn't selected:
SNUBS
Demario Davis, MLB: Read his Twitter timeline, and you'll see that Davis felt like he deserved a spot on the Pro Bowl team. He made a strong case for himself, recording a career-high five sacks and a team-high 117 tackles, but was edged by players from better defenses -- C.J. Mosley (Baltimore Ravens) and Ryan Shazier (Pittsburgh Steelers). Surprisingly, Davis wasn't recognized as an alternate. Still, he should be proud of his season, especially the fact that he hasn't missed a single defensive snap. He made a seamless transition into David Harris' old job and increased his value as a pending free agent.
Robby Anderson, WR: He lobbied for Pro Bowl votes during a recent game, mugging for a camera on the sideline. Nice try, kid. This was a breakout season for the second-year receiver, but he didn't have the numbers to overtake the many established receivers in the AFC. It's tough to gain access into that elite fraternity, but Anderson is a player on the rise. He's ninth among AFC wide receivers in yards (888) and tied for sixth in touchdown catches (seven).
Josh McCown, QB: He didn't have much of a shot, but it's worth noting that he's fourth in the AFC in passer rating (94.5) behind Alex Smith (105.4), Tom Brady (104.0) and Deshaun Watson (103.0). Bet you didn't know that. McCown was named the fifth alternate at quarterback. Rookie safety Jamal Adams was named a third alternate.
