Safety Kameron Miles (Mesquite, Texas/West Mesquite) has had a memorable spring. More than 20 offers. A verbal commitment to Tennessee two weeks ago. A spot in the ESPN 300.
On Wednesday, Miles added The Opening to his constantly growing resume. Miles was invited to and accepted the invitation to compete in The Opening, a training and competition showcase that will take place July 5-8 at Nike headquarters in Beaverton, Ore.
“It’s funny because I remember sitting at home watching [Texas A&M signee] De’Vante Harris on The Opening on TV,” Miles said. “Now, I’m invited to it. It’s a cool thing.”
Miles, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound defensive back, will be one of 150 athletes participating at the four-day event. Ranked No. 12 among safeties nationally and No. 36 among all Texas players, Miles chose Tennessee on May 21 over offers from Stanford, Penn State and Arkansas.
“I get to go to Oregon and Nike headquarters – where everything Nike is made,” Miles said. “Then, to get to compete against the top players in the nation … it’s exciting. I’ve came a long, long way. I’m just having fun with everything now.”
