Edgewood to host second annual Badger Conference Girls Basketball Challenge

The second annual Badger Conference Girls Basketball Challenge is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Madison Edgewood High School.

Pairings are based on standings following the first round of play in the Badger North Conference and the Badger South Conference. League tiebreakers were used to determine some placings among teams that were tied.

Game times on Friday will be 5:45 p.m. and 7:20 p.m. for games involving teams that are in eighth and seventh place, respectively, in their leagues.

Games on Saturday begin at 9:20 a.m. with the JV teams and end with the first-place varsity game featuring Beaver Dam, which is ranked first in the Associated Press Division 2 poll, and Stoughton in the Wilke Gym at approximately 7:20 p.m.

Following are the pairings with first-round conference records:

Friday, Jan. 11 -- Match-ups

5:45 p.m. -- Baraboo (1-6) vs. Fort Atkinson (0-7)

7:20 p.m. – Sauk Prairie (1-6) vs. Madison Edgewood (1-6)

Saturday, Jan. 12 -- Match-ups

11 a.m. – Mount Horeb (1-6) vs. Milton (2-5)

12:40 p.m. -- Portage (3-4) vs. Oregon (3-4)

2:20 p.m. -- Reedsburg (5-2) vs. Monroe (5-2)

4 p.m. -- Waunakee (5-2) vs. Watertown (5-2)

5:40 p.m. -- DeForest (5-2) vs. Monona Grove (6-1)

7:20 p.m. -- Beaver Dam (7-0) vs. Stoughton (6-1)

Varsity games will be played in the Wilke gymnasium. The JV games will be played in the Krantz Center. Badger South schools will play host to the freshman games.

Admission will be $5 per day. A percentage of the revenue will be donated to a charitable organization that will be announced at the event.
