The Cincinnati Reds picked Tanner Rahier from Palm Desert in the second round of the Major League Baseball draft. The shortstop did not play for the Palm Desert High School baseball team, opting for a wood-bat league with his spring travel team.
Palm Desert (26-8) won the CIF Southern Section Division 4 baseball championship with a 4-0 shutout over Temple City.
Rahier has a good arm and decent power, according to MLB.com, and will probably switch to third base in his pro career
