FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- New England Patriots veteran cornerback Bradley Fletcher is inactive for Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, a potential move that was foreshadowed Saturday, as rookie Justin Coleman is active for the first time this season.
Fletcher has struggled at times over the first two games. Coleman entered the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted player out of the University of Tennessee.
Coleman will likely serve as the No. 4 cornerback behind Malcolm Butler, Tarell Brown and Logan Ryan. The Patriots' depth at cornerback has been one of the early question marks this season.
Elsewhere, tight end Michael Hoomanawanui is another notable inactive player for the Patriots. His limited role on special teams likely factored into the decision. He's been active for the first two games of the season, playing 22 snaps on offense as a No. 4 option behind Rob Gronkowski, Scott Chandler and Michael Williams. The Patriots have carried four tight ends on the active roster in part because they don't have a pure fullback.
The team's other inactive players Sunday are safety Tavon Wilson, running back Travaris Cadet, defensive end/outside linebacker Rufus Johnson, defensive end Trey Flowers and center/guard Ryan Wendell.
Defensive tackle Dominique Easley, who injured his left hip in the season-opener Sept. 10, is active for the first time since the injury.
