Time for UCF to take a turn in the spotlight.
Spotlight: Defensive line.
Why: UCF traditionally has one of the better defenses in Conference USA so the hope is that the Knights can fit right into the Big East, known much more for its defensive style of play. But in order to make a smooth transition, UCF is going to need to be tough up front. Right now, there are some definite questions at the position. The Knights lose starters Victor Gray and Troy Davis, along with Jose Jose, who started five games last year, and Cam Henderson, who started four. Davis led the team with 11.5 tackles for loss and eight sacks, so finding somebody to pick up where he left off is going to be huge. There are some players to watch for this spring who played well in 2012 -- guys like Thomas Niles, who is now at end after playing tackle last year -- and Deion Green. The two combined for nine sacks last year and 13.5 tackles for loss. Starting tackle E.J. Dunston returns as well. Coach George O'Leary is also interested in seeing how some of the more inexperienced and unproven linemen on the roster do this spring. He is going to have his eye on guys like Luke Adams, Demetris Anderson, Chester Brown and Stanley Sylverain, a converted linebacker.
