Big East 2012 Top 25 countdown: No. 22

Our series counting down the Big East's top 25 players from 2012 continues today with a second player from Philly:

No. 22, Matt Brown, RB, Temple

Making the case: The Baltimore native made his presence felt on special teams, returning 17 punts for 241 total yards, a 14.18 yards per return average that was good for seventh nationally. He also returned 31 kickoffs for 790 yards and a touchdown, with that return average -- 25.48 -- good for 28th nationally. Brown was named the Big East's special teams player of the year for his efforts, in addition to being a first-team All-Big East selection at return specialist. Brown finished No. 2 in career all-purpose yardage (5,272) among Temple players, and his 22 career rushing touchdowns are the third-most in school history. (His 10 100-yard rushing games are fourth.) Hamstring and ankle injuries and the emergence of Montel Harris limited Brown's offensive production in his final college season, as he rushed for 372 yards and four touchdowns on just 60 carries. He added four catches for 31 yards and another score.
