Seven-time PBA champion coach Yeng Guiao and NLEX Road Warriors have mutually agreed to part ways" according to a statement released by the team.

Spin.ph first reported the development.

"It was a mutual decision between the NLEX Road Warriors management and Coach Yeng Guiao to end the agreement," the statement read.

No details on the nature of the split were announced, but a source confirmed to ESPN that Guiao, who had been the Road Warriors' head coach since the 2016-17 season, and team management had failed to come to terms on a contract extension.

There was no mention of a possible replacement in the team statement.

"We wish Coach Yeng all the best in his future endeavors," added the NLEX management.

In his five-plus seasons at the helm, Guiao piloted the Road Warriors to an overall record of 71-96, including an 8-16 mark in the playoffs. During his tenure the team never made it to the finals, reaching the semifinals just twice. In the 2022 Philippine Cup, NLEX finished with a 6-5 mark in the elimination round to claim the sixth seed in the quarterfinals, where it lost to Magnolia 2-1.

Guiao first started coaching in the PBA in 1990 with the expansion club Pop Cola Sizzlers. He also had head coaching stints with Mobiline, Red Bull, Air21 and Rain or Shine. He last won a PBA title in the 2015-16 Commissioner's Cup with the Elasto Painters.
