Essendon vs. Sydney Swans

Marvel Stadium, 7:40pm (AEST)

Team news: The Bombers will welcome back Archie Perkins and Sam Weideman after prolonged stints in the VFL at the cost of concussion to Nik Cox and the omission of Aaron Davey jnr. Meanwhile, Corey Warner will replace his brother Chad after the Swans superstar was ruled out with a calf injury, and Robbie Fox will also miss Friday night's clash with a kidney injury. Defender Lewis Melican will return from a hamstring.

ESPN tip: Swans by 11 points

Result: Swans by 39 points.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 17

GWS Giants vs. Fremantle Dockers

ENGIE Stadium, 1:45pm (AEST)

Team news: The Giants will make three changes this week, including Stephen Coniglio making his much-anticipated return from a shoulder injury. Ruckman Kieran Briggs and Toby McMullin also come back into the side, with Xavier O'Halloran and Max Gruzewiski (both omitted), and Harvey Thomas (managed) all set to miss. The Dockers have recalled Nathan O'Driscoll and Liam Reidy at the expense of Matt Taberner and Karl Worner.

Gold Coast Suns vs. Melbourne

Team news: The Dees will make one change after Clayton Oliver was ruled out for the season, with Jake Bowey to take his place on the Gold Coast. Alex Sexton has been squeezed out of the Suns' side this week to make way for star midfielder Touk Miller, who comes back from a long wrist injury layoff.

Joel Freijah, Arthur Jones, Alex Keath, Jack Macrae and James O'Donnell have been named in the Bulldogs' extended squad. North Melbourne young gun Harry Sheezel has been ruled out due to an ankle injury. Dylan Stephens, Zac Fisher and George Wardlaw have been named after overcoming their respective injuries. Kallan Dawson has also found himself in the extended team for Sunday's game.
