Ohio State's Cotie McMahon enters transfer portal

Women's College Basketball, Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State star forward Cotie McMahon has entered the transfer portal, the school confirmed to ESPN on Wednesday night.

McMahon, a two-time all-Big Ten First Team selection, led the Buckeyes in scoring this season with a career-best 16.5 points per game, while also averaging 4.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.2 steals. Her 37.4% clip from 3-point range was also by far a career high for the three-year starter.

McMahon, the 2023 Big Ten freshman of the year and honorable mention All-American, will have one year of eligibility remaining and is poised to be one of the most highly sought players in the portal.

The No. 4 seed Buckeyes were upset on their home floor by No. 5 Tennessee in the second round of the NCAA tournament. Ohio State fell in that same round as a 2-seed last year, but made the Elite Eight after upsetting UConn when McMahon was a freshman.

Aside from McMahon, the Buckeyes are losing two other starters -- Taylor Thierry and Ajae Petty -- who have exhausted their eligibility.
