It took 28 seasons and the first overtime winner-take-all WNBA Finals game, but the New York Liberty finally have won their first WNBA championship. New York weathered a poor shooting night -- no 3-pointers until nearly two minutes were left in regulation, as well as 1-for-19 shooting from Sabrina Ionescu -- to beat the Minnesota Lynx 67-62 in extra time in Game 5 of the Finals on Sunday. Jonquel Jones led the Liberty with 17 points and was named Finals MVP. Nyara Sabally came off the bench to score 13 points. Breanna Stewart finished with 13 as well, including four pivotal free throws. And New York, a franchise full of near-misses and heartache that lost in five previous attempts at a title, at last added WNBA champion to the Liberty legacy.
