Vote: Did the Yankees make the right move in parting ways with Joe Girardi?

MLB, New York Yankees

The New York Yankees' manager job is open for the first time in a decade with the team moving on from Joe Girardi on Thursday.

What's your take on Girardi's exit from New York? And who should be the next Yankees' manager?

Girardi's tenure in pinstripes featured a World Series title in 2009, but also four missed playoff appearances in 10 years after having only missed the postseason once from 1995-2007. The Yankees did have the highest winning percentage in baseball in aggregate over Girardi's time in New York.

Internal candidates for the position include current Yankees coaches Rob Thomson, Tony Pena and Joe Espada, while current Miami Marlins manager Don Mattingly figures to be a popular choice among fans. Our ESPN Insider roundtable also adds a few dark-horse candidates to the mix, including former Philadelphia Phillies manager Pete Mackanin.

The Yankees' job is attractive, with a loaded farm system and All-Star-caliber young players on a team that fell one win short of a World Series berth.
