Ebbsfleet make point to seal play-off place

Ebbsfleet confirmed their place in the Vanarama National League play-offs with a 1-1 draw at already-relegated Torquay.After pulling off a fine save with his feet to deny Corey Whitely in the first half, Torquay goalkeeper Vincent Dorel had to be at his best to keep out Luke Coulson's effort just after the hour mark.But Dorel was beaten in the 69th minute when substitute Jack Connors' cross floated over his head and into the net.It took Torquay just two minutes to level as Rhys Healey converted from the penalty spot after Brett Williams was fouled by Kenny Clark.Dorel saved well from Coulson as Ebsfleet went in search of a winner, but the point was enough to book a play-off date with Aldershot.

Bottom side Guiseley held off a Torquay fightback to claim a 4-3 win in a thriller between two relegated sides in the Vanarama National League.Guiseley got off to a terrible start at Plainmoor as Harry Flowers was sent off for pulling back Elliott Romain to concede a penalty after three minutes.But Joe Green saved Romain's spot-kick and the visitors took the lead two minutes later through Dayle Southwell.Rhys Healey equalised but Will Hatfield restored Guiseley's lead and Rowan Liburd added a third. Healey's second 18 minutes from time gave the Gulls hope but Liburd added another before George Dowling's consolation.

AFC Fylde beat struggling Torquay to maintain promotion push

Jordan Tunnicliffe scored twice as AFC Fylde kept their promotion charge on track with a fourth straight win in a 3-1 victory at Torquay.The Gulls went ahead in the fifth minute from the penalty spot when Zaine Francis-Angol was penalised for a foul and Brett Williams sent Jay Lynch the wrong way.Jack Muldoon brought the visitors level in the 24th minute when he fired home from close range after Danny Rowe's initial shot had been blocked after a free-flowing move involving Sam Finley and Lewis Montrose had opened up Torquay.And just three minutes later the Coasters were ahead when Tunnicliffe was left unmarked to head Finley's corner into the net.Tunnicliffe made sure of victory 12 minutes from time when he headed home from close range from Simon Grand's cross into the box.

Ryan Bird effort enough as Dover edge nine-man Torquay

Dover Athletic moved to within a point of the Vanarama National League play-off places after a 1-0 win over nine-man Torquay United.Rhys Healey had the first real opportunity of the game after 22 minutes when he cut inside from the right but Mitchell Walker got down low to make the save.Anthony Jeffrey came inches from giving Dover the lead 10 minutes into the second half when he cut inside from the left and beat Ryan Clarke - but his shot came back off the post.But just a minute later Dover were ahead. Connor Lemonheigh-Evans was penalised for handball and Ryan Bird converted from the spot.Torquay were then reduced to 10 men when Healey was shown a second yellow card for catching Connor Essam and in stoppage time they were reduced to nine when Elliott Romain was given a straight red card for a foul on Giancarlo Gallifuoco.

Torquay boost survival hopes with win over Chester

Torquay picked up a vital win over National League relegation rivals Chester.Rhys Healey gave the visitors an early lead with a neat finish beneath keeper Andy Firth from a tight angle, and Conrad Balatoni went close to a second but headed just over.Harry White went closest to a first-half equaliser when his deflected drive was brilliantly saved by Vincent Dorel.Torquay began the second half on the hunt for another goal and, after Firth kept out a deflection from team-mate Lathaniel Rowe-Turner and then saved well from Aaron Barnes, it finally arrived through Elliott Romain's header.Almost immediately afterwards Chester had Lucas Dawson sent off and though they hit the post through substitute Jordan Archer's first touch, it was Torquay who moved three points ahead of their opponents - but still seven adrift of safety.

Adi Yussuf scored a late equaliser as Solihull rescued a much-needed 1-1 draw against fellow strugglers Torquay.Brett Williams put the visitors ahead with a 41st-minute penalty after Solihull's Fiacre Kelleher brought down Elliott Romain in the box.But the home side equalised eight minutes from time when Jamey Osborne's free-kick was headed on by Liam Daly and found Yussuf, who bagged a late point.The result leaves both teams in the National League relegation zone, with the hosts three points from safety and the Gulls five points further back.

Torquay claim vital three points at Leyton Orient

Struggling Torquay claimed a vital three points in their National League relegation battle with a 1-0 victory against Leyton Orient.The Gulls had lost their last three matches but Elliott Romain's strike left them just six points from safety.Orient had the first chance of the game in the fifth minute as George Elokobi rose to meet a free-kick but his header was comfortably saved by Vincent Dorel.Brett Williams and Romain were looking the biggest threat for the visitors and Orient were given a scare when the latter hit the post but the flag was up for offside.It was the attacking duo who combined to put United ahead in the 37th minute, Williams doing well to lose his man in the box and crossing for Romain to head home.Elokobi came close to an equaliser 10 minutes after the break when he rose to meet Lamar Reynolds' corner but his effort was saved by Dorel.Substitute Matt Harrold headed wide for the O's as they applied some pressure in the second half with David Mooney hitting the post in stoppage-time.

Josh Hare's late goal saw Maidstone snatch victory over Torquay to ease their own relegation worries and deepen those of the victors.Hare tapped home a loose ball from close range with two minutes left to earn three vital points from a 1-0 win for the hosts, who had seen an 81st-minute Blair Turgott strike ruled out for offside.Torquay wanted a penalty after eight minutes when George Dowling went down under a challenge from Alex Finney, but the referee waved play on.In a match of few chances, Torquay's Vincent Dorel had been the busier of the two goalkeepers, making two smart saves to deny Jamar Loza and Ross Lafayette in quick succession as the game moved into the final quarter of an hour.

Bromley hammer Torquay at Plainmoor

Bromley returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion with a 4-0 Vanarama National League victory over struggling Torquay at Plainmoor.The away side took the lead four minutes before the break as Louis Dennis picked up the ball inside the 18-yard box. He had an initial shot held out by goalkeeper Ryan Clarke but tucked home the rebound to give his side a narrow half-time advantage with his 12th goal of the season.Adam Mekki doubled the Ravens' advantage after 65 minutes as he slotted his low strike past Clarke and into the bottom corner.Summer signing Luke Wanadio made it 3-0 eight minutes later after some poor defending in the Torquay box, while Josh Rees tapped in from close range to put the score beyond doubt with 10 minutes remaining to leave the Gulls stranded at the bottom.

The 15 official Gateshead fans that made the mammoth 774-mile round-trip to Torquay were subjected to their side conceding a last-minute goal in a 1-1 draw.With the game brought forward from next weekend at the request of the north-east side, less than a coachload of supporters watched on as Jordan Preston's first-half goal was cancelled out in the 90th minute by Sean McGinty.The official away attendance was given as 15, but there appeared to be more than 20 in the away end, according to a picture posted on Gateshead's official Twitter feed. Either way they will be making the six-hour-plus journey home deflated.A long night looked on the cards as Torquay started the brighter and after having a goal disallowed, hit the woodwork when Alex Davey headed against the crossbar.But in the 28th minute Steve Watson's side went ahead as Preston turned in from 10 yards and Danny Johnson missed a fine chance to double the lead.They looked like holding out in the second half until time added on when McGinty slammed home a loose ball.ends
