TRENDING RUMORS

- Manchester United could turn to Paris Saint-Germain striker Gonçalo Ramos after missing out on Ipswich Town's Liam Delap, says the Daily Mail. Ramos, 23, scored 10 goals in 22 league games this season as PSG romped to a treble and also netted three times in the Champions League. The Portugal international was linked with United before his €80m move from Benfica to PSG in 2023 and could be an option, though sources have told ESPN that United have stepped up their interest in Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo after completing a £62.5m move for Wolves' Matheus Cunha.

- Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho is not wanted at the club, but could be heading to the Saudi Pro League, says the Daily Mirror. Sancho, 25, spent last season on loan at Chelsea but the Blues failed to agree terms on a deal with the former England international, a source told ESPN, and paid a £5m penalty to break their initial obligation to sign him permanently in the summer for £25m. Now Al Hilal, Al Ittihad and Al Nassr are all interested, though the winger is expected to assess his options in Europe first.

- Bayern Munich are looking to bring in a new winger, with the futures of Leroy Sané and Kingsley Coman uncertain, says Bild. Brighton's Kaoru Mitoma and Athletic Club's Nico Williams have been linked before, but the report claims Real Sociedad's Takefusa Kubo is top of their list. Kubo, 23, impressed in LaLiga this season and his versatility is an attractive aspect of his game for Bayern.

- Liverpool have "no plans" to part ways with winger Luis Díaz this summer, reports the Liverpool Echo. The Anfield hierarchy are reportedly "baffled" by speculation that he could leave the club, and despite interest from Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr, it is believed that manager Arne Slot sees the 28-year-old as an important part of his project. Díaz directly contributed to 18 goals in 36 Premier League matches last season, while he has also been in impressive form on international duty for Colombia.

- FC Cincinnati attacking midfielder Evander is on the radar of Galatasaray, according to Foot Mercato. The Super Lig club has reportedly kept close tabs on the 26-year-old for "some time," and it has identified him as a potential replacement for Dries Mertens, who has decided to leave the club when his contract expires later this month. Evander has been in bright form in MLS this season, scoring seven goals and providing five assists in 15 league matches.

EXPERT TAKE

ESPN's resident scout Tor-Kristian Karlsen explores why Gonçalo Ramos could make a transfer.

Since joining the new European champions two years ago, Ramos' career has stuttered a bit and he is yet to cement his place in the side despite a respectable 32 goals from 86 appearances across all competitions.

Having missed the first three months of the season through injury, Ramos must have thought his time had finally come when Randal Kolo Muani departed on loan to Juventus in January. But PSG signed winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, which then saw Bradley Barcola and then Ousmane Dembélé switched to a "false No. 9" role up front, to great effect.

While a mobile, energetic and physically imposing centre-forward might not cut the ideal frontman in the eyes of PSG boss Luis Enrique, Ramos can hardly be accused of lacking in effort or productivity. Not only does he average 1.1 goal involvements per 90 minutes over the past year, but he tracks back when needed and rarely shies away from his pressing duties.

Furthermore, benefiting from playing in a possession-heavy side, Ramos ranks among the top marksmen in Europe in terms of shots on goal. His 4.6 shots on target per 90 minutes (55% on target) -- for context, Bayern Munich's Harry Kane averaged 3.4 and Man City's Erling Haaland hit 3.1 -- is an extraordinary number. That said, he does tend to score in streaks; from his 18 goals this season, there have been two hat tricks and a brace.

Ramos is a useful link-up forward able to set up combinations or provide assists and, given his age, goal-scoring average and enthusiastic style, it's not beyond reason to suggest that he will improve his productivity in years to come. But, as a confidence player, what he needs is an undisputed starting role. A more-settled environment with clear expectations should do him a world of good.
