Mumbai City FC 0-3 NorthEast United

(Alaaeddine Ajaraie 1', 83', Macarton Louis Nickson 86')

Mumbai City FC fell to their second heavy home loss of the season, with Alaaeddine Ajaraie's brace leading NorthEast United to a 3-0 win over the defending ISL cup winners.

Mumbai fell behind in the first minute of the game, when Parthib Gogoi controlled an aerial ball spectacularly on the right wing, and then whipped one for Ajaraie to tap home at the far post. It could've been worse 20 minutes later for Mumbai, when NorthEast had a penalty for handball by Hardik Bhatt, but Ajaraie's spot kick was saved TP Rehenesh.

NorthEast had a host of chances, but couldn't find the finishing touch until the 83rd minute, when a lovely flick from Macarton Louis Nickson found Ajaraie on the right hand side of the box. He cut in on his left, jinked past Mehtab Singh and curled one into the far corner. Macarton got his goal three minutes later after shambolic Mumbai defending allowed him a shoot from the edge of the box, which he placed into the bottom corner.

Jamshedpur FC 1-0 Kerala Blasters FC

(Pratik Chaudhari 61')

Jamshedpur FC beat Kerala Blasters FC 1-0 at home, thanks to a second-half strike by Pratik Chaudhari. It ensured that Jamshedpur FC broke the Blasters' six-game-long unbeaten streak against them. Khalid Jamil's sidey jumped four positions from the eighth place to the fourth spot in the standings as a result of this win, now boasting 21 points from 12 matches.

A quite first half saw both teams spurn great chances to score, as with Kwame Peprah and Javi Hernandez both turning down presentable chances. Jamshedpur FC found the eventual breakthrough from a powerful shot taken by defender Pratik Chaudhari in the 61st minute. Chaudhari pounced upon a loose ball and netted it into the bottom left corner to score only his third-ever ISL goal, and first since December 2021 (for BFC vs CFC).

Jamshedpur held on for all three points, thus ensuring a much-needed victory.

Chennaiyin 2-4 Bengaluru

Ryan Williams 16', Irfan Yadwad 19', Sunil Chhetri 43', Lalrinliana Hname 45+2', Laldinliana Renthlei 82 (OG).

Bengaluru FC triumphed over Chennaiyin FC with a 4-2 win at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai in their Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 match.

Ryan Williams scored a brace and Sunil Chhetri was also on the scoresheet as Bengaluru FC (27) reduced the deficit at the top against Mohun Bagan Super Giant (29) to only two points,

Irfan Yadwad and Lalrinliana Hnamte were on the scoresheet for Chennaiyin FC.

Bengaluru will next face Jamshedpur FC on January 4 whereas Chennaiyin FC will play Odisha FC on January 9.

Hyderabad FC 1 - 1 East Bengal

(Manoj Mohammed 90'; Jeakson Singh 64')

A late goal from Manoj Mohammed saw Hyderabad rescue an unlikely point at the Gachibowli stadium against East Bengal after Jeakson Singh had poached an opening goal for the visitors.

The game was even for most parts, with Hyderabad having more possession and shots, but EB looking just a touch more dangerous with their attempts. That threat manifested into a goal just past the hour mark when a delicious Cleiton Silva freekick clanged off the bar and was nodded home from a few yards out by an alert Jeakson. Hyderabad upped the ante after that, and with EB sitting a might deeper, the pressure started to build. It told in the last minute of regulation time when a series of superb, quick passes eventually saw Edmilson Correia tee up the overlapping Manoj who smashed in a lovely finish to pull Hyderabad level.

The result sees EB stuck in 11th, still behind Kerala Blasters on goal difference, while Hyderabad remain 12th, but go two points clear of bottom placed Mohammedan Sporting.

Punjab FC 1-3 Mohun Bagan

Ricky Shabon 12', Alberto Rodriguez 48', 69', Jamie Maclaren 64' (P)

Mohun Bagan Super Giant returned to winning ways with a 3-1 triumph over Punjab FC in their ISL match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.

Punjab FC struck first, courtesy of a great strike from Ricky Shabong whereas Mohun Bagan retaliated with a strong second-half performance which saw Alberto Rodriguez score a brace while Jamie Maclaren converted from the spot.

With the win, Mohun Bagan have increased their lead at the top to five points, 29 points in total from 13 matches. Punjab remain at eighth with 18 points after 12 matches.

Both teams will now play in the new year, with Mohun Bagan Super Giant returning home to host Hyderabad FC next on January 2 whereas Punjab FC will lock horns against Kerala Blasters FC on January 5.

Mohammedan 0-0 Odisha FC

Mohammedan SC held Odisha FC to a goalless draw at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 on Friday to break their five-game losing streak in the league.

Odisha dominated 57.6% of the possession, but didn't take a single shot on target, as opposed to the two of the home side. Mohammedan and Odisha took eight and five shots off target though, suggesting a lack of accuracy upfront.

Mohammedan play their next game against NorthEast United FC on January 3, whereas Odisha FC will lock horns against FC Goa on January 4.
