BISCHOFSHOFEN, Austria -- Janne Ahonen won the third stop of
the Four Hills World Cup ski jumping tournament Saturday and took
the lead in the standings.
The 30-year-old Finn could become the first ski jumper to win
the prestigious tournament for a fifth time on Sunday. Ahonen has
834.2 points, ahead of Thomas Morgenstern of Austria with 823.3.
Gregor Schlierenzauer of Austria is third with 811.7.
Ahonen led after the first leg with a jump of 139.5 meters, and
added a 138-meter effort to win with a total of 282.5 points.
"This hill really suits me," said Ahonen, who won his last
World Cup event on the same hill two years ago.
Overall World Cup leader Morgenstern finished second with jumps
of 138 and 132.5 meters to trail Ahonen by 11.1 points. Simon
Ammann of Switzerland, who was 18th after the first leg, had a leap
of 139 meters to take third.
