This date in Fire history: Dec. 10

On this date in Chicago Fire history, Dec. 10, 2007, Juan Carlos Osorio resigned from his head coaching position with the Fire. He left for family reasons to move to New York, where he then took over the New York Red Bulls program.

"Despite the Fire's best efforts to keep Juan in Chicago, he determined that he needed to leave Chicago for family and personal reasons," then-Fire president John Guppy said in a release. "While we certainly respect his decision, the timing of the departure was unexpected and is unfortunate."

Osorio was the Fire's third head coach, replacing Dave Sarachan earlier in 2007. Following Osorio, Denis Hamlett took the reigns for two seasons and now the Fire organization is searching for its fifth head coach. But Chicago's coaching changes are about half the size of the Red Bulls/MetroStars' changes at the helm.

Osorio took New York to the 2008 MLS Cup, followed by two victories in 22 matches in 2009 before he resigned under heavy criticism of his team's performance throughout the year.

So where is Osorio now?

In mid-November, the Colombia native latched onto a head coaching position with Corporacion Deportiva Once Caldas in Manizales, Colombia.
