Trophy to touch down in San Francisco

VALENCIA, Spain -- The America's Cup is set to return to the United States for the first time in 15 years.

BMW Oracle, which beat Alinghi 2-0 in a special best-of-three race series, says the oldest trophy in international sport will arrive at San Francisco on Friday, where it will be brought to its home at the Golden Gate Yacht Club.

A public viewing will follow on Saturday at City Hall before the Auld Mug travels to San Diego on Sunday.

BMW Oracle says an East Coast tour will follow next week.

BMW Oracle's space-age trimaran easily beat the two-time defending champions from Switzerland to clinch a sweep on Sunday.

The 159-year-old trophy hasn't been in the U.S. since Black Magic of New Zealand beat Young America in 1995.
