There's really nothing funny about your franchise quarterback swallowing blood after a vicious (and illegal) hit from Browns linebacker Kamerion Wimbley. It's also tough to find humor watching 350-pound defensive tackle Shaun Rogers drive Cutler into the ground. Unfortunately, both events unfolded Sunday, with new left guard Josh Beekman missing the block on Rogers that resulted in Cutler being driven to the turf.
"I got Jay hit on one of the protections out there," Beekman said. "I can't let that happen. But there are going to be plays like that, so [we need to] keep battling. I just didn't have my feet under me. The coaching technique was to have your feet under you and go after him. I didn't do, so I have to execute the offense."
"Shaun Rogers is a big guy," Cutler said. "So every time he hits you, that counts for two."
