Hawkins new Tulane assistant

NEW ORLEANS -- Chris Hawkins, a former assistant at the
University of Buffalo, has been hired as an assistant basketball
coach at Tulane.

Hawkins, 36, spent seven seasons as an assistant coach at
Buffalo, where he helped with recruiting, scouting of opponents and
coaching the perimeter players.

During Hawkins' last four seasons at Buffalo, the Bulls had 71
victories, including a 23-10 record and postseason NIT appearance
in 2004-05, and a 19-win season in 2005-06.

"He was a great player at Radford, and after he completed his
career he returned as an assistant coach and helped coach his alma
mater to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 1998" said Tulane
coach Dave Dickerson.

Hawkins was an assistant at Radford for three seasons.
