Ducks' Koivu out 1-2 weeks with sprained knee

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Ducks center Saku Koivu should be able to return from his sprained right knee within two weeks, well before he's scheduled to serve as captain of Finland's national team at the Olympics.

Koivu was hurt in the second period of Anaheim's loss at Los Angeles on Thursday night when he got tangled up with a Kings player on a faceoff.

The veteran forward underwent an MRI exam Friday that revealed the sprain, but Anaheim said Koivu is only expected to be sidelined for one to two weeks.

Koivu has 10 goals and 19 assists in his first season with the Ducks after a lengthy career in Montreal.

Teemu Selanne, Koivu's teammate in Anaheim and for Finland, broke his jaw Wednesday. The Ducks have projected his recovery at two to six weeks.
