DALLAS -- Byron Walker scored 17 points and had 11 rebounds to help lead Alabama State to a 77-68 victory over Houston Baptist on Sunday night in the Tip-Off Classic.
Andrew Hayles added 16 points and Brandon Brooks had 13 for Alabama State (1-3).
Baron Sauls and Gordon Watt each had a double-double for Houston Baptist (0-5). Sauls had 23 points and 10 rebounds while Watt had 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Alabama State shot 54 percent from the field to Houston Baptist's 36 percent.
Alabama State led 46-39 at the half.
