TRENDING RUMORS

- Arsenal's David Raya and Brighton & Hove Albion's Bart Verbruggen have emerged as shock targets for Real Madrid, according to The Sun. Madrid view the Premier League goalkeepers as potential long-term successors to Thibaut Courtois, who turns 33 this weekend. Brighton have already lined up several possible candidates to replace Verbruggen should his head get turned by Los Blancos this summer, including Burnley's James Trafford and Liverpool backup Caoimhín Kelleher. Raya, meanwhile, is regarded by Real Madrid as a trickier deal to pull off, as the 29-year-old is under contract at the Emirates until June 2028.

- Liverpool need a new right-back for next season as Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to leave the club and join Real Madrid on a free transfer in the summer. Their search has taken them to two players: Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong and AS Monaco's Vanderson, according to L'Équipe. Frimpong, 24, scored an incredible 14 goals and provided 12 assists from 47 games last season, and the Netherlands international could be available for around €35m. Meanwhile, Vanderson has been tracked by Tottenham but could move to Anfield to provide competition for Conor Bradley.

- Juventus are pursuing a deal to sign Victor Osimhen this summer amid strong interest in the striker from the Premier League, Matteo Moretto reports. The Napoli goal scorer is currently on loan at Galatasaray but is widely expected to complete a permanent move elsewhere when he returns to Italy at the end of the season. According to Moretto, Osimhen has a €75m release clause, which several European clubs are seemingly willing to trigger. The Nigeria international has impressed in Turkey this season, scoring 24 goals in 28 league matches.

- Manchester City have "verbally agreed" personal terms with Juventus full-back Nicolò Savona, Footmercato has revealed. The Italian is one of several right-back targets on City's radar, although Flamengo's Wesley is still regarded as their first option. A move for Savona could still materialise this summer, as the 22-year-old is keen on a move to the Premier League. Also on City's shortlist is Newcastle United's Tino Livramento, although the price of the transfer could prove to be a major stumbling block.

- Saudi side Al Hilal are refusing to give up on the idea of signing Manchester United superstar Bruno Fernandes, the Daily Mirror reports. The Saudi Pro League club are reported to have previously offered Fernandes a lucrative three-year contract, which was "politely rejected" by the 30-year-old. Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimarães and Aston Villa talisman Youri Tielemans are also attracting interest from Al Hilal, with the pair viewed as potential alternative targets if a deal for Fernandes proves to be too ambitious.

EXPERT TAKE

ESPN's Madrid correspondent Alex Kirkland on a possible move for David Raya.

A move for Raya to Real Madrid is hard to imagine, for several reasons. Firstly: Thibaut Courtois only turned 33 today. For many, Courtois is still the best goalkeeper in the world, and he's shown no signs of slowing down yet. He looks after himself and could easily remain Madrid's No/ 1 for two or three years, at least. Would Raya, who's not exactly a youngster himself at 29, be willing to join Madrid and wait around for Courtois to move on?

Secondly, Raya has three years left on his contract at Arsenal, and there's no obvious reason for them to let him go. If they were to even consider it, the club would expect a substantial fee, which Madrid wouldn't want to spend, given their needs elsewhere: notably in central defence and central midfield.

Are there any arguments in the move's favor? Well, Raya's reputation has certainly grown in Spain this season, thanks to some stellar performances and sensational saves -- especially in the Champions League -- and regular call-ups to the Spain national team. Madrid got a close look at him over 180 minutes in the Champions League quarterfinals and would have been impressed with what they saw. And Arsenal have been strongly linked with Espanyol's Joan Garcia, 24, having had a bid rejected last summer.

Garcia has been one of LaLiga's breakout stars this season, arguably the league's most eye-catching keeper, and -- at least for me -- has a ceiling that could match, or even exceed, Raya's. Both keepers should be competing for Spain's No. 1 shirt before too long, despite coach Luis de la Fuente's loyalty to Unai Simón.

Garcia will leave Espanyol this summer, and his release clause means he'd be available for a fee of €30m, or a negotiated deal close to that. So you can just about imagine a scenario where Arsenal might be tempted to let Raya leave for big money and sign Garcia for less, bringing in a younger keeper who could end up being just as good. But it's quite a stretch.
