Malcolm Jones (Westlake Village, Calif./Oaks Christian) has heard the talk of his future offensive coordinator Norm Chow possibly heading to USC, but that won't change anything for the four-star running back.
"I'm solid on UCLA," said Jones, who committed early in the fall to UCLA after narrowing his choices to the Bruins and Stanford. "I committed to UCLA because of the location, how comfortable I was with the school and players and the direction the program is going. I like coach Chow but I'm staying at UCLA no matter what.
"I take my official visit this weekend and it's going to be a lot of fun. It's a big recruiting weekend for us and I know there's going to be a lot of recruits there. Don't get me wrong, I like coach Chow a lot but I'm a Bruin no matter what.
"Wayne Moses, the running back coach is the one who recruited me along with coach (Rick) Neuheisel. Coach Moses was the lead though and he's cool, we get along real well and I'm looking forward to playing for him."
In the meantime, Jones said he's taking on the role of a recruiter and talking up the Bruins to a handful of players.
"I'm trying to get some good guys to come in and help us," Jones said. "I talked to some players at the Army game and I'll be doing my best this weekend to talk up the program on my official visit as much has I can."
