SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- After missing in four previous
attempts Matt Hanson hit a free throw with 1.4 seconds left to lift
Cal Poly to a 57-56 victory over UC Irvine.
Hanson missed the first of the pair but made good on his second
for his first successful free throw in six games.
Kevin Bland fouled Hanson on a dunk attempt to set up the
game-winning foul shot for the Mustangs (9-12, 4-5 Big West).
UC Irvine (9-13, 4-5) called a timeout in an attempt to set up a
last-second shot but had the inbounds pass broken up at midcourt.
Shawn Lewis came off the bench to lead Cal Poly with 12 points.
Trae Clark and Dreshawn Vance each added 10 points.
Darren Fells led UC Irvine with 18 points and Chad DeCasas added
