The Griquas claimed their first win of the 2018 Currie Cup when they rallied from behind to beat the Free State Cheetahs 52-24 in Kimberley on Saturday evening.
The Cheetahs got off to a perfect start as Ali Mgijima scored in the firsts five minutes before Ederies Arendse hit back for the hosts. Carel-Jan Coetzee then scored two consecutive tries and Ernst Stapelberg made no mistake from the kicking tee.
Stapelberg added a penalty before the Griquas scored on the stroke of half time to head into the break trailing 24-14.
The Griquas then scored 38 unanswered points in the second half to claim their first win of the competition.
The Griquas will travel to Cape Town next weekend to take on the unbeaten Western Province, while the Cheetahs will host the Pumas.
