81'FULL TIME ANALYSIS

ESPN's Martyn Thomas (@MCThomasSport) had this to say:

"When Jeff Hassler stormed over at the beginning of the second half few would have predicted the finish we would have in Leicester. A successful conversion from Nathan Hirayama extended Canada's lead to 15 points, but it was the missed kicks that would ultimately prove costly to Kieran Crowley's side's hopes. At the final whistle they would have squandered five more points than their opponents from the tee, 11 in all. When digesting a two-point defeat those numbers will loom large. But credit must go to Romania, they put in a herculean effort in defence that kept them in the game and rallied in the second half to score two contrasting tries - both from captain Mihai Macovei. It was only right that the game would be settled by a penalty kick, with Floein Vlaicu holding his nerve to send their fans ballistic in the stands."
81'17-15 End of second half
80'FULL TIME!
79'Romania have another penalty after Canada are penalised again for coming in at the side! Running out of time here for the Maple leafs...
78'...is it drop goal time for Canada?
78'17-15 Penalty goal - Florin Vlaicu , Romania
77'MADE IT! Two minutes to hang on.
77'Player substituted - Viorel Lucaci , Romania
77'Substitute on - Daniel Carpo , Romania
76'Romania penalty - they are on the brink of a victory!

Yet another scrum penalty for Romania. The men in white simply overpowered Canada in the scrum - arguably down to the extra man due to Sinclair's sin binning. However, the kick's still 45 metres out and based on what we've seen so far, nothing is guaranteed...
75'STAT: Romania have never beaten Canada outside of Romania. Can they make history? They're just one point away...
75'Substitute on - Alexandru Tarus , Romania
75'Player substituted - Mihaita Lazar , Romania
75'Player substituted - Harry Jones , Canada
75'Substitute on - James Pritchard , Canada
75'14-15 Conversion - Florin Vlaicu , Romania
74'12-15 Try - Mihai Macovei , Romania
73'ROMANIA TRY!
Despite Romania needing the TMO to check a double movement, they've been awarded the try. The scrum which resulted from Sinclair's sin binning has paid dividends and they're back in it. Nice pick up from Macovei who bundles it over. Canada just couldn't withhold Romania's No.8. Sheer strength guided him over the line, a huge leap was required for his second movement to plant it down.
72'
72'Yellow card - Jebb Sinclair , Canada
71'Canana sin bin!

Sinclair's been penalised for coming in at the side. Romania had the lineout and implemented their most useful tactic so far - the driving maul - but Canada's No.6 came in at the side. He's off. Romania looked on the edge of another try there, and now their opponents will play the remainder with a man down.
70'Csaba Gal closes down Hirayama's kick just shy of the half way and it looked as if the replacement was about to score as he then proceeded to run onto the ball. He was the first there - well inside the Canadian 22 now - but Canada's van der Merwe was to the rescue. If Romania had got a lucky bounce, the scoreline could be a bit different right now...
69'Game struggling to catch light. Besides their couple of tries and some nice phases of play, Canada really have lacked penetration in the Romanian 22.
68'STAT: Romania have only made nine tackles in the past 15 minutes - an indicator of a shift in the more dominant side.
68'Player substituted - Doug Wooldridge , Canada
68'Substitute on - Jake Ilnicki , Canada
66'Substitute on - Andrei Radoi , Romania
66'Player substituted - Otar Turashvili , Romania
65'Canada escape the scrum unharmed and for the first time in the game, it didn't need to be reset. Canada boot up field and we're back to the stalemate along the half way, something what we've been stuck in for the majority of the second half.
64'Canada scrum now, just on their 22. Play was brought back for an earlier knock on.
63'Untidy lineout from Canada but they're given the penalty, just. Let off that one.
63'Player substituted - John Moonlight , Canada
63'Substitute on - Nanyak Dala , Canada
62'The catch and drive doesn't prove fruitful for the Romanian's this time as the men in red get bodies behind the ball and push it into touch. They have the set piece themselves now,
62'Player substituted - Hubert Buydens , Canada
62'Substitute on - Djustice Sears-Duru , Canada
61'Romania are within five metres... Not pretty but this little set piece tactic is effective...

Carpenter penalised for not moving away and Romania have the penalty just metres off the try line. What will they opt for - lineout or the scrum?

They've gone for lineout.
60'Romania have the lineout now, after Canada AGAIN faltered in the scrum. They've kick for the lineout, and we know what happened last time...
58'Not a lot going on at the moment. Both sides milling about with the scrum, again...
56'Canada penalty, and another miss! This time 'thanks' to Hirayama. Some very poor tee kicking here from the Canadian's.
54'STAT: Romania have made a 100 tackles so far...
54'Player substituted - Djustice Sears-Duru , Canada
54'Substitute on - Hubert Buydens , Canada
54'7-15 Conversion - Florin Vlaicu , Romania
53'5-15 Try - Mihai Macovei , Romania
52'ROMANIA TRY!
There we go. Great stuff. Romania get it right on the set piece. The penalty was kicked for the lineout, which then evolved into the rolling maul. They brought across their scrum strength into the maul and drove to the line. Dynamic, accurate and all round much better play from the men in white. Romania should have a lot more confidence and we could be in for a tasty end to the game.
52'Substitute on - Csaba Gal , Romania
52'Player substituted - Mike Wiringi , Romania
51'Hirayama's corner kick was collected well and what a little bit of play we've just seen from Romania here - at last...

A succession of short but nifty offloads from nearly every Romanian player has seen them work the ball from the right touch line to the left touch line in about 30 seconds. The fluency displayed just their between the forwards and backs hint that there is actually more to this side than the big scrum. Try is still a long way off though, but they've got from their try line to the half way with relative ease. Romania also have the penalty after a deliberate Canadian knock on spoiled their hard work.
50'Substitute on - Conor Trainor , Canada
50'Player substituted - Nick Blevins , Canada
50'Substitute on - Phil Mack , Canada
50'Player substituted - Gordon McRorie , Canada
49'Canada now have the scrum - and like pretty much every other scrum we've seen in this game so far - it's had to be reset.
48'Not for long though, seeing a little bit more emphasis from Romania here as they're back in possession. Can they make anything of it? If they are, they'll have to build on their 22 line where they are now...
47'For the first time so far we've seen Romania put some structure into their play as they progress into Canadian territory, but some poor handling has gifted the ball back to the Maple leafs.
46'Substitute on - Andrei Ursache , Romania
46'Player substituted - Paulica Ion , Romania
46'Player substituted - Hubert Buydens , Canada
46'Substitute on - Djustice Sears-Duru , Canada
45'And they've changed kicker, too. Hirayama gets a reward for his efforts a few moments ago with the kick and he successfully converts.
45'0-15 Conversion - Nathan Hirayama , Canada
44'CANADA TRY!
Sheer brute force and skill from Hassler there. Hirayama's little run proved vital but Hassler barged off FIVE tacklers to secure the try. Great individual effort from the winger. Romania bounced off him like he was a trampoline.
44'0-13 Try - Jeff Hassler , Canada
43'Hirayama proving a nuisance again and he navigates through two tackles before eventually being taken down.
42'Canada scrum along the left flank for a Romanian knock on.
41'We restarted the game how we left it. Canada hands on the ball, pushing the men in white back to their white line. Hassler makes a nice little break but is quickly pegged back. Canada playing as if they have something to prove, whereas Romania look like they're already on the plane home.
41'HALF TIME ANAYLSIS

ESPN's Martyn Thomas (@MCSportThomas) had this to say:

"Remarkably, given the conditions in Leicester, both teams have treated a healthy crowd to some running rugby. Indeed, Canada have even given their countrymen, the majority in attendance, a try to savour as they built an eight-point lead. As the rain came down more heavily halfway through the first 40 minutes, the Canucks briefly changed their approach. However, without a reliable kicker that always looked a foolhardy decision and indeed Gordon McRorie has been wasteful from the tee -- DTH van der Merwe again proving to be Canada's biggest danger, grabbing five points in the process. For their part, Romania have tried to take the game to their opponents -- and kept them scoreless while a man down -- but have been undone by individual errors."
41'0-8 End of first half
40'And we're back underway!
40'0-8 Start of second half
39'Game fizzling out as we approach half time. Romania kick upfield from open playing in an attempt to gain ground, albeit in Canada's hands in Canada's 22. Look lost of ideas already. Desperate.
35'Romania seem to be lacking motivation here, perhaps tiredness setting in already. Everything's happening in slow motion. If Canada's attack was more potent, this could've been a big scoreline. As it stands it's 8-0, but if McRorie had nailed his kicks, they'd be 16-0.
33'Misses the conversion kick from McRorie.
33'0-8 Try - DTH Van Der Merwe , Canada
32'Yes they can! CANADA TRY! ver der Merwe has scored every game of the RWC - he's completed the set! Hassler makes solid progress himself which ultimately set the space up further along the line for Hearn. Hassler's offload is impressive and Canada work the ball from right to left, eventually finding the winger. He barges through weak tackles from Romania's Wiringi and Lemnaru on the line to secure the first try.
31'Canada clearly the better side here but they not to be a bit more direct to make their efforts pay. They've ran 272 metres so far, opposed to Romania's 64. Can they make the try before halftime.
29'Romania are back to 15 now.
28'Some more nice phases from Canada again as Romania battle to keep them out. Ciaran Hearn heavily involved before Keukeboom finds a break, but still Romania hold strong keep them out.
27'Wow, they've woken up. Tremendous scrum from Canada and penalty against Romania for standing. Chance to release this bit of pressure in their territory.
26'You wouldn't know Romania have the man off in bin still - the best they've been so far. They've now got the scrum five metres off the try line. Will they make it? Canada's scrum been poor so far...
24'Canada - again - are penalised in the scrum. Romania's pack looking very strong. They kick for the lineout, which is deep in Canada's 22. Probably the closest they've got to that try line,
23'Lovely move from Canada, moving the ball right to left. Hirayama's little dodge on the incoming tackle was particularly impressive but a forward pass ruins the play. Good signs for the Maple leafs. however.
23'Player substituted - Florin Surugiu , Romania
23'Substitute on - Valentin Calafeteanu , Romania
21'Romania's McRorie has sent another kick wide. Could be 9-0 up, but remain 3-0. Rain really coming down now.
20'Yellow card - Catalin Fercu , Romania
19'Romania finally getting a hold in this game, killing off the early Canadian onslaught. Be interesting to see if the Maple leafs pay for their fairly rapid start. We're off to the TMO for tackle review...

Wow. Fercu's gone to the bin. Blevins landed on his back from a high jump to collect the ball under pressure from the Romanian fullback and the ref has penalised for dangerous play. Blevins awkward landing made it look worse than it probably was I'd say.
17'Misses. Not a surprise. Wasn't the worst kick in the world though, perhaps if it wasn't heavily raining the outcome would've been different.
16'...but they're going for it. It's smack bang on the half way line and pretty near the touch line. Very ambitious.
15'Penalty to Romania after Canada's Carpenter after penalised for not moving away in the ruck. Probably not within kicking distance down the left flank...
14'Decent start to this game. While it's a deadwood with regards to outcome on the tournament, it's been an entertaining and competitive watch so far. Romania having a bit of joy with the ball now as they look to make their way to the Canada's 22 and beyond.
13'Scrum along the half way, which Canada are penalised for after Buydens collapsed. Romania kick for the lineout.
12'Romania's captain Macovei penalised for a late tackle just shy of the the half way. We've seen a lot of that this World Cup.

They kick for the lineup and move the ball along the line. Canada's passing is nice on the eye, but they just can't find that line break. Romania on the back foot, but not significantly. Get the feeling momentum could switch at any moment.
11'Yes, he does. About time for McRorie and he takes his country to a 3-0 lead after 10 minutes.
11'0-3 Penalty goal - Gordon McRorie , Canada
10'Another Canadian penalty now, 24 metres out and fairly central. Can he make it 44 international points on the second time of asking? Bit of an easier kick this one...
8'Swift pumping move from the Canadian's right to left, eventually finding Hassler who looks for that break into the Romanian 22 but can't find it. He's taken down but the Maple leafs are still with possession and pushing nicely.
7'No he can't! He's pulled it wide.
6'DTH van der Merwe is causing more problems down that left flank, and he's gained the first penalty for his team which Gordon McRorie is lining up. He has 41 international points already, can he make it 44?
5'And now it's Romania's turn! They break down the left but a nifty little interception from DTH van der Merwe saves his side just shy of their try line. Canada's turn to attack now, again...
3'Canada turn the scrum into pressure along the Romanian 22, which actually leads to a disallowed try along the left flank courtesy of DTH van der Merwe who was deemed in touch. Despite Romania's initial burst of energy, Canada the ones looking the more likely to make the first points.
1'Romania - who're wearing their white kit today - kick us off against the Canadian's who're wearing red.

And the Europeans haven't taken long to impose themselves, forcing the first lineout of the game along their right flank....which then leads to the first scrum of the afternoon after a Romanian knock on, the wet weather possibly playing a part.
