The Denver Broncos plan to sign veteran wide receiver Elijah Moore to the practice squad, a source confirmed to ESPN.
Broncos coach Sean Payton has repeatedly said he likes the makeup of the team's group of wide receivers, so much so that the Broncos stood pat at the trade deadline. But they have been inclined to sign some experienced players to their practice squad this season, including 20-year veteran Marcedes Lewis at tight end to go with third-year wide receiver Michael Bandy.
The Broncos also added Lil'Jordan Humphrey to the roster in late November after they waived Trent Sherfield Sr.
Courtland Sutton, Troy Franklin and Marvin Mims Jr. have gotten the majority of the snaps in recent weeks. Moore was at the Broncos' facility Monday -- as the Broncos returned from their Sunday night win over the Washington Commanders at Northwest Stadium.
Moore gives the Broncos another potential experienced option in a stretch run, especially as a slot receiver, when they are trying to keep themselves in the race for the AFC's No. 1 seed in the postseason. Moore would have some game-day elevations available over the final five games of the regular season as well.
Moore was released by the Buffalo Bills last week when they signed veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks.
Moore had nine receptions for 112 yards in nine games with Buffalo after signing a one-year contract as a free agent.
Moore has had three 40-catch seasons in his career, including as recently as a 61-catch season with the Cleveland Browns in 2024.
The five-year veteran has 209 receptions for 2,274 yards and nine touchdowns in his NFL career that also includes stops with the New York Jets and Browns.
